The TC32LX50 LCD TV promises exceptional performance in high style. It features display capability at 1080i and 720p, so high definition content from any network may be viewed in maximum resolution, from sports to movies to nature specials and more. (An additional HDTV tuner, not included, is required to receive high definition programming.) Plus, the 16:9 aspect ratio makes this set ideal for high-definition programming, much of which is broadcast in widescreen format. The TC26LX50 places a variety of digital options at your fingertips. This model features a powerful integrated 4-speaker sound system with virtual surround sound. It's equipped with HDMI, for transfer of high definition content by way of a single cable. But maybe the most amazing thing is that all of these wonderful features are contained in a TV that's only 5.5 inches thick.

Some Bright Ideas

You can count on brilliant picture quality when you turn on the TC32LX50. It features an impressive 14-millisecond moving picture response speed, so fast-moving objects found in sports or action movies are displayed with great clarity. And the Advanced LCD Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology goes beyond Panasonic's previous system, using advanced picture processing circuitry to achieve extraordinarily deep, lifelike images. The new system provides the luminance distribution in real-time and then boosts gradation in the luminance areas containing the greatest number of image elements. The result is outstanding detail, depth, and realism in areas such as the backgrounds behind movie subtitles and the brightest objects in dark scenes.

Moving Right Along

The component video inputs on the TC32LX50 delivers outstanding resolution and color accuracy of video images from a variety of sources, including DVD players, by keeping the separate signal elements of video images intact during the transmission process. Another technololgy that ensures picture-perfect images is the motion Adaptive 3D-Y/C Digital Comb Filter, which displays bright colors and fast-moving scenes with incredible clarity by minimizing the color rainbow effect in closely spaced patterns, compensating for the motion that occurs between fields.

Advanced LCD Panel Technology

The color filter and backlight (fluorescent lamp) of an LCD panel are the keys to color reproduction. Using a thicker color filter improves color purity (vividness), but it also reduces light transmittance (brightness). Panasonic's newly developed LCD AI increases brightness and allows the use of a thicker, higher-purity color filter. This dramatically increases the color reproduction range, resulting in strikingly vivid colors with greater depth. The color temperature has also been raised by optimizing the characteristics of the fluorescent lamp for purer whites. Using a high-uniform-brightness LCD panel has helped Panasonic achieve a picture brightness level of 500 cd/m2. A new panel fabrication technique has reduced light leakage during black display, improving contrast ratios to 800:1.

Single-Cable Convenience

HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is a new standard digital connection between A/V devices, such as a set-top box, DVD player, A/V receiver, and a digital telelvision. HDMI offers exceptional video and audio quality over a single cable with quick-disconnect connectors. It supports multi-channel digital audio transmissions and component video color spacing for true rendering of HD video. HDMI supports the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) copy protection standard, allowing transmission of copy-protected digital content to your display. The video portion of HDMI is also backwards compatible with DVI-HDCP devices using a special cable adapter.
