| As long as the television has been bringing your favorite movies from the big screen into your home there has been a discrepancy between motion of the moving image on film and the way that that same image is replayed on the television. With the introduction of the P50V701 Ultravision&trade Plasma HDTV, and the revolutionary film processing system known as Reel60&trade, Hitachi breaks through the chains of 50 years of a film-to-TV mismatch, letting you experience a true in-home theater experience for the first time. How does Reel60 work? Well, movies provide the illusion of motion by showing a series of still images over time (at a rate of 24 frames-per-second, in fact). However, this rate does not match that used by television systems, which show 60 frames-per-second. Reel60 replaces the existing conversion system, known as "3:2 pulldown correction", which can often result in a jerky image by repeating images, by creating interpolated frames based on the original film images, thus smoothing out the movement and correctly matching the original motion. |
