The Secret To Great Picture Is MID X Circuitry

The big secret behind this television, however, is the Multi Image Driver X Circuitry, or MID X, and it has two purposes. This means it converts the incoming signal to the higher resolution of your screen. Converting a film to video gets a little complicated due to the fact that video is shot at 24 frames per second (FPS) while the standard for film is 30 FPS. Obviously there's a bit of a discrepancy there. A process called 3:2 Pulldown is used to convert 30 FPS film to 24 FPS video, and it works fairly well except that there are some side effects. CineMotion overcomes the limitations of 3:2 Pulldown by essentially reversing the process, thereby eliminating visually distorted picture information and removing motion artifacts. This phenomenal technology optimizes film-based content from any video input. Cable With No Cable Box? That's Right!

Because this HDTV's built-in CableCARD slot makes it Digital Cable Ready you can plug the cable directly into your TV and enjoy HDTV and digital cable without having to use a set-top box anymore. And, not only does the CableCARD slot allow you to throw out the cable box, it also functions as a security component, enabling the delivery of secure digital audio and video signals. There is, however currently a limitation to the CableCARD as interactive CableCARDS are yet to come from consumer electronic manufacturers. If you use two-way, interactive services such as Program Guides, Pay-Per-View, or Video-On-Demand services you will want to also have an HD set-top box with your CableCard. But, if you don't use those services, the CableCARD will work great all by itself. And, if you should ever decide that you do want two-way interactive services, HD set-tops are available.

Easy Connecting And Operating

There are lots of features on this HDTV which make it not only nice to watch, but easy to operate-such as the on-screen display that shows which component is connected to each video input. The HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) program controls the monitor display and allows you to interact with the system that links one device to another, such as the satellite receiver and the TV. HDMI is an enhanced version of DVI-HDTV and with the use of an adaptor, is backward compatible with DVI (Digital Visual Interface), which transfers high-resolution video and multi-channel audio signals to the HDTV monitor. And because you want to be able to connect your HDTV to other electronic components, the KDE37XS955 features other connections in addition to the HDMI connection, such as a rear Control S-Input and S-Output.

Enhanced Memory Stick Media Playback

For digital imaging enthusiasts, convenient JPEG and MPEG1 file playback is available via the Memory Stick media slot. Simply slide the Memory Stick media (a small, stable, removable memory form that allows for the quick insertion of data) out of a compatible camera or camcorder, for example, and into the HDTV's slot so see your images on the TV screen. TruSurround & External Sound

This HDTV also comes with Steady Sound, a wonderful feature that keeps you from getting "blasted" by those really loud and obnoxious commercials. This feature ensures a consistent audio output between commercials and programs. And, don't forget there's the Audio Output that can be set for fixed or variable output, giving you the option of sending your television's audio to an external sound system and either controlling the volume through your receiver/amplifier (fixed output) or through your TV (variable output). You can also take advantage of the subwoofer output to connect a powered subwoofer and really add some power to your entertainment.

Control Issues

The KDE37XS955 is probably the nicest looking TV you've ever seen and most likely the easiest to operate. Channels can be programmed automatically and widescreen mode can be set to auto as well. Parents will appreciate the assistance of V-Chip Parental Control in keeping certain programs from sensitive eyes and ears. You can select favorite channels for quick click selection, add channels to the list, or elect to skip over them. Program Palette Presets make it easy to optimize the picture for different programming choices (e.g. sports, movies, video games). The on screen display offers assistance in English, French or Spanish and closed captioning is also available at your fingertips. Since your finger may not always be available when a button needs pushed, the KDE37XS955 also has a two event clock/timer and sleep timer.
