GAME SYNOPSIS |
|
If your idea of a week well-spent involves shutting yourself up showerless in the basement and immersing yourself in an interactive fantasy world, then you owe it to yourself to experience the hostile, ice-covered clime and bizarre creatures of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. The guy (and let's face it, it was a guy) who named this single player odyssey was not prone to hyperbole; the conditions on this planet are just a tad shy of unlivable.
Snow pirates navigate protective Vital Suits, the only real way to stay alive on this sunless orbiting ice cube, through this unforgiving landscape while fighting the Akrid -- gargantuan bug-like aliens hostile toward human life on what they've come to see as their planet.
You are Wayne, a snow pirate whose earliest memory is of your father being killed by an Akrid. To say that somehow affected your adult relationships with Akrids? well, that wouldn't be funny except you spend the first thirty levels of the game playing Orkin Man with their nursery nests in an effort to rid the planet of their infestation. You are a man with a mission, if not much forethought. See, Akrids produce an orange goo that is the only source of harvestable energy (and warmth) on your podunk little planet.
A vile plan has been set into motion by some unknown force, a plan that would terminate all the Akrid and snow pirates alike. You, Wayne, will embark on dangerous missions in single-player mode or play with as many as 15 other players online in gigantic multiplayer maps. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition thrusts you into a gripping storyline with intense, cinematic gameplay as you struggle to uncover the secrets of this frozen world.
