If you've already invested in an HDTV, you're or planning to soon, the DVSP404S will take standard DVDs to high definition resolution quality by converting to 720p or 1080i through the HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) output. Also, with a 108 MHz/12-bit video DAC supporting progressive scan, you're assured of spectacular viewing time-after-time. The DVSP404S does what you expect from higher-priced players, and it will also serve as a more than capable playback device for all your audio sources, from your own CD library to computer-based digital files. Much More Than You Expected |

| The market is flooded with entry-level DVD players that offer very little except for decidedly average playback ability. The DVSP404S not only offers quality DVD video playback, it also gives you a range of other options including video recorded to DVD+/-R/RW discs. Besides your standard audio CDs, the DVSP404S also plays MP3 and WMA files burned to CD-R/RW (10 hours or more on a single disc depending on the bit rate). This DVD player displays your digital music file names on a TV display, and lets you program a playlist of up to 24 songs from the same disc. Also, you can view your digital photos encoded in JPEG or EXIF2.2 (burned to CD-R/RW) in the enlarged frame of your TV display. |

| 108 MHz/12-Bit digital-to-analog progressive scan processing--the ability to produce video in complete frames with no motion artifacts, a scan-line-free image, vividly clear color, and incredibly sharp detail--has arrived at the entry level. Even though the latest displays and TVs have built-in deinterlacers or line doublers that take your video source into the progressive realm, the downside is that they have to digitize the video signal resulting in the loss of picture resolution. Onkyo's DVSP404S deinterlaces the signal in the digital domain rather than sending an analog signal to the display, which means you get a much better picture. |

Auto Dynamic Range enables you to bring up the quieter sounds when watching Dolby Digital DVDs at low volume. And if you don't have the DVSP404S connected to a surround sound system, the Virtual Surround function will deliver realistic surround sound from only two speakers. |
