There's More To HDTV Than Meets The Eye. . . |
Hollywood Quality Video (HQV) is a new benchmark standard of video excellence created through a partnership between Silicon Optix and Teranex. And Denon DVD players are the world's first to incorporate this innovative HQV technology. HQV represents the integration of Teranex's broadcasting platform and software algorithms into Silicon Optix' Realta chipthe industry's first fully software programmable video array processor capable of performing over 1 trillion operations per second, with an Image Fidelity Enhancement Engine and end-to-end true 10-bit image processing. These core technologies combine together to enable the simultaneous processing of dual high-definition image streams for home entertainment and professional video display products.
Don't let your eyes glaze over just yet. Setting all the technical jargon aside, HQV means you'll be looking at an exceptionally clear high-definition picture. HQV processing represents the most advanced de-interlacing technique available: a true pixel-based motion-adaptive approach. With HQV processing, motion is identified at the pixel level rather than the frame level. While it is mathematically impossible to avoid discarding pixels in motion during de-interlacing, HQV processing is careful to discard only the pixels that would cause combing artifacts. Everything else is displayed with full resolution. |

Getting Twisted Is A Good Thing |
| The signal on your HDTV is only as good as the connection transmitting it. Connected via a shielded twisted pair (STP) RJ-45 fitted cable to a Denon Link-compliant A/V amplifier, the balanced signal transfer offers lower voltage than coaxial or unbalanced cables. Since Denon Link is far less susceptible to radiated noise, it ensures the highest level of signal transfer. The Denon Link interface is able to transfer high grade LPCM 24-bit, 192kHz, 2-channel and 96kHz, 24-bit, multi-channel digital output. Denon Digital Link uses low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS). Transfer capabilities of greater than 1.2 Gbps at a differential voltage of approximately 0.3 Vpp are possible. |

This Isn't Your Mother's DVD Player |
| With the 3930CI, Denon didn't just engineer for your eyes, they engineered for your ears too with their High Definition Compatible Digital (HDCD) technology. HDCD encodes with 20 bits of real musical information, as compared with 16 bits for all other CDs, greatly reducing the distortion that occurs upon digital recording, while maintaining compatibility with conventional CD formats. HDCD overcomes the limitation of the 16-bit CD format by using a sophisticated system to encode the additional 4 bits onto the CD while remaining completely compatible with the existing CD format. HDCD provides more dynamic range, a more focused three-dimensional soundstage, and extremely natural vocal and musical timbre to achieve the highest resolution. With HDCD, you get the body, depth, and emotion of the original performance not a flat, digital imitation. |
Hi-Fi Goes Digital |
| Denon employed their acclaimed Advanced AL24 Digital Signal Processing (DSP) in the 3930CI in order to improve the fidelity of high resolution stereo PCM sources such as CD and DVD (up to 192 kHz sampling frequencies). Advanced AL24 provides increased dynamic range and spatial information, bringing out all the nuances with optimum clarity and natural fidelity. More simply put, AL24 cleans up the digital signal giving you cleaner, purer sound. |
| By now you ought to realize that signal noise is one of the culprits behind bad video, and Denon is doing everything they can to stop the madness. Their Noise Shaped Video (NSV) precision video feature reduces noise in the video signal frequency band in order to enhance video signal linearity, provide the most accurate signal representation, and enhance the picture quality. Noise shaping techniques can be combined with dynamic element matching techniques in order to reduce the matching requirements of DAC elements by converting the analog mismatch into out-of-band noise. NSV is the only product on the market that can achieve ultimate precision with 12-bit fidelity in both digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital domains. |

Defining High Performance |
| HDMI is the first interface to carry both high-definition video and multi-channel surround audio together in a single cable without compromising performance. This makes HDMI far less messy, expensive or complicated than most other hookups. And since HDMI is a pure digital-to-digital signal, it outperforms analog connections such as composite, S-video and component video by delivering the digital signal without requiring any analog-to-analog conversions that can degrade picture quality and sound quality. |
All The Right Connections |
| The back panel is fully loaded with all the connections most installers and home audio/video enthusiasts need to connect to a high-end audio/video system. Component connections are offered in the standard RCA type connection and in the more commercial BNC type connection. The HDMI output now supports resolutions up to 1080p for compatibility with current HD displays. In addition, the DVD-3930CI offers all video outputs live, for multiple connection/zone configurations. Add to this the multiple video and audio adjustments provided using the included fully backlit remote, and you have a player that you can calibrate right on the money and easily operate in either daylight or theater light conditions. |
