Find It, Store It, Burn It |
The Pioneer DVR640HS allows you to easily record all of your favorite TV shows on a super-sized 160 GB hard drive, and to burn to DVD at 12x speed. Simple editing features make it possible to cut out portions of the video, saving the best parts for the final DVD. And there's up to 340 hours of recording time available on the hard drive and up to 10 hours on a single layer/single-sided DVD-R/RW when each is recording at the lowest bit-rate setting. The DVR640HS can even record dual layer DVD-R discs. |
You Decide When Prime Time Starts |
Let's say you set the timer on the DVR640HS to record your favorite program, but end up getting home early, while it's still recording. And you want to see the show right now, from the beginning. Good news: you don't need to wait until the recording's done. With Chase Play, you can watch the program from the beginning, as the rest of the program is being recorded. Chase Play lets you watch, stop, or pause the show you're recording. If you don't watch the show while its recording, an on-screen menu shows thumbnails of each section of video to help locate the correct scene to play back. The Skip feature allows you to jump right past scary scenes in a movie or other content you don't want to watch. |
Help At Your Fingertips |
Much like a computer offers a one-touch Help button to answer basic user questions, Pioneer has created a Help menu on screen for easy set up and use of the DVR640HS DVD recorder. The Help button is directly on the remote control and offers information about what is currently scheduled for recording, how much space is available on the hard drive, and general operational instructions. There's also an advanced disc navigator to simplify the recording process even more. |
Plenty Of Time To Fill |
Smart VBR (Variable Bit-Rate Recording) mode lets you choose the quality level/recording time that best suits you. Choose from eight different bit-rate settings that provide from 23 hours to 340 hours of recording on the 160 MB hard drive or from one hour to 10 hours on a DVD-R/RW. And most likely, you'll be filling a lot of this recording time with TV shows or movies from broadcast or cable sources, which is why the DVR640HS has a built-in NTSC TV tuner for standard broadcast and cable channels. Use either Pioneer's timer record system with its graphical interface and handy calendar to make sure you never miss a show. |
Sophisticated Video and Audio Playback |
PureCinema 2:3 Progressive Scan gives you a more film-like presentation when watching movies on DVD. The 54MHz/10-bit video DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) delivers beautiful video quality. Plus, Pioneer has included the latest Dolby Digital and DTS Digital surround sound outputs, and a high-end 24-bit/192kHz audio DAC for superb musical performance. |
Wide Playback Compatibility |
Besides regular DVD movies, you can play your homemade DVDs containing TV content or home movies (HDD/DVD-R/-RW/DVD-R DL/DVD-RAM/DVD+R/+RW/DVD+R DL/DVD). It also plays CDs and CD-R/RW discs with WMA and MP3 files, and its JPEG photo viewer is compatible with Fujifilm and Kodak discs and CD-R/RWs burned from your computer. |
