Additionally, the unit comes with a built-in 160 Gigabyte TiVo Series2 hard disc drive. Recording shows on an HDD has several advantages over recording on traditional videotape including improved picture and audio quality, instant access to audio and video content, extended recording time, and no rewinding. TiVo basic service is included, providing easy recording from the 3-day on-screen program guide and TiVo channel banner with program description. The unit also offers manual recording capability, including scheduling, repeating, and recording of a specific time and channel slot via the on-screen user interface. You'll appreciate the on-screen display of content with program name, rating, station identifier, and time and date. TV Trick Play offers you the ability to begin watching a recording that is already in progress, or pause a live recording and then return to it later. This feature is great if you get home a little late for your favorite show, as you can start watching the program from the beginning while the machine is still recording the end.

ColorStream Pro component video outputs allow the highest quality video signal to be sent from the DVD player to a component video equipped progressive scan TV. When this connection is utilized with today's HD-compatible sets, typical NTSC artifacts (like video noise, dot crawl, and flicker) are virtually eliminated, resulting in a low-noise, highly detailed picture with unequaled color purity. Digital Cinema Progressive (3/2 Pulldown) delivers the smoothest, most film-like images to any progressive scan television, such as an HD-compatible one, and ensures maximum resolution.

More Convenient Connections

There are composite audio and video inputs, as well as RCA L/R inputs on the front panel of the RSTX60 for easy camcorder dubbing. Additionally, an IEEE1394 Firewire jack is also available on the front panel for interfacing compatible digital video camcorders. This feature provides recognition of the device and on-screen menu controls to easily direct the downloading process from your camcorder. An Optical digital audio output ensures the best quality sound transfer. The RSTX60 includes an IR blaster that can connect to the back of the recorder and transmit an infrared (IR) signal to change channels on your cable or satellite box. This allows no-hassle recordings from these two sources without the need to make channel selection ahead of time.
