The SDP2700 utilizes a bright 8.9" 16:9 widescreen Polysilicon TFT LCD display (1024 x 600) that is perfect for viewing standard, letterbox, and anamorphic DVD movies. This little unit not only plays DVDs, it's also compatible with DVD Audio (2-channel)/CD/Video CD/DVD-R/CD-R/CD-RW and it plays MP3 and WMA files burned to CD-R/RW media, too. Not bad for a DVD player that's only 3.98 pounds (with battery). 12-Bit/54mHz video digital-to-analog conversion provides maximum color purity, detail and resolution, and 24-Bit/192kHz PCM audio compatibility delivers warmer, more natural-sounding audio from many types of discs. Toshiba's unique Direct Digital Solution sends the DVD video information to the LCD driver directly from an MPEG decoder in original digital form, bypassing unnecessary digital-to-analog conversion steps, delivering the best picture quality.

Superb Color Stream Pro Progressive Scan Video Outputs

Because the digital filter enables eight times oversampling of the component video signal, this ColorStream Pro player delivers the highest quality video signal to be sent from the DVD player to a component video equipped analog or digital TV. When this connection is utilized, typical NTSC artifacts (like video noise, dot crawl, and flicker) are virtually eliminated, resulting in a low-noise, highly detailed picture with unequaled color purity. Digital Cinema Progressive (3/2 Pulldown) delivers the smoothest, most film-like images to any progressive scan television, such as an HD-compatible one, and ensures maximum resolution.

DVD PCM Audio (2-Channel)

This format builds upon the benefits for the DVD platform by offering high resolution two-channel and multi-channel music and features, including text (song lyrics), still pictures (slide show), and moving visuals (music video). It provides greater frequency response and better dynamic range than compact discs and offers multi-channel (5.1 and 6.0) audio capabilities. Sampling rates can be as high as 24-Bit/192kHz. The SD-P2700 offers compatible playback of DVD audio content in a high-resolution 2-channel mode.

The SDP2700 allows you to not only view your favorite photos, but allows for dynamic zooming as well. The Toshiba JPEG Viewer enables you to display digital photographs captured in the JPEG format. Simply load the CD with your favoite photos and create custom slide shows with a few simple clicks of the player's remote control.This Picture Zoom feature allows you to select an area of the picture you want to zoom in on and magnify it. Enhanced digital processing during moving video or freeze-frame playback produces superior color fidelity and resolution, even when you're zoomed in. It can also be used to expand letterbox-only films to increase the viewable area onscreen.

Spatializer N-2-2 ULTRA 3-D Virtual Surround Sound

The Spatializer N-2-2 ULTRA 3-D system provides a simulated surround sound effect from sources that contain only a stereo soundtrack. This system is convenient when playing older DVD films or for use with home theaters not equipped with multi-channel playback compatibility. It also includes specialized processing for headphones, and is active via the headphone output jacks.

SD/MMC Memory Card Slot

The SDP2700's memory card slot extends the player's versatility by displaying digital images in the JPEG format captured on SD/SM/MMC "flash memory" cards. This type of digital storage card is used in many other devices such as digital cameras and portable music players. You can use the SDP2700 DVD player to present custom slide shows of your favorite digital snapshots.
