HDMI In Your Eye |
The DVDS661 brings glorious 720p and 1080i upconversion to your high-definition television through its High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI). HDMI is the first and only digital interface to combine uncompressed high-definition video, multi-channel audio and intelligent format and command data in a single digital interface. HDMI switching, providing the most advanced method of delivering high quality video signals to a home theater system to enable the reproduction of DVD and satellite TV sources with HD quality. Compatible with the HDMI Ver. 1.1 format, it can also decode digital audio signals from sources such as CD, Dolby Digital and DTS. |
Wrap Yourself Up In Dolby Digital |
In thousands of cinemas and millions of homes worldwide, Dolby Digital is the reigning standard for surround sound technology in general and 5.1-channel surround sound in particular. Dolby Digital is a highly sophisticated and versatile audio encoding/decoding technology. It can transmit mono, stereo (two-channel), or up to 5.1-channel surround sound, which is important to know if you just dropped some dough on a top-of-the-line surround sound speaker system. The superior coding efficiency of Dolby Digitaland its ability to deliver high-quality discrete multichannel audio without compromising video qualityhas made it the designated audio standard for DVD videophiles worldwide. |
Small Package, High Quality |
DivX is the video compression codec developed by DivX Networks and based on the MPEG-4 compression format. What does this mean? It means that video files are very large too large to fit on a DVD or stream across the Internet without making them smaller. That's where compression technology comes into play. DivX is the latest compression technology. Its balance of high video quality and low bit rate has made it very popular and quickly established it as the best home video format thus far. The ability to play it on newer DVD models continues to add to its popularity as DivX Networks advances its support to many new household products. This compression technology has the potential for expanding the ways we view video media in much the way MP3 has given us many new ways to listen to music. |
Progressive Scan Technology In A Nutshell |
Progressive scanning creates a picture signal with double the scan lines of a conventional interlaced picture to create a noticeably sharper image. Even on large screens, the progressive scan lines are barely noticeable and picture flickering is greatly reduced, so you can enjoy extended viewing without eye fatigue. This Yamaha progressive scan DVD player can handle both progressive and conventional interlaced video. In addition, this player offers progressive scanning of both NTSC and PAL signals. In order to take advantage of a progressive scan DVD player, your TV must be capable of accepting and displaying a progressive scan signal. |
A Perfect Match For Yamaha Receivers |
In addition to having a similar appearance, the DVDS661 is designed for easy operation with Yamaha AV receivers that have the SCENE, such as the RX-V661. A Remote Power On function can be used by connecting the Remote Input of the DVDS661 to the Remote Output of the RX-V661. Playback of an inserted DVD can be started simply by pushing the SCENE button on the receiver. |
Don't Forget The Cables! |
If you are using an HD DVD player, a receiver, or anything else that is capable of sending a high definition signal, don't forget to purchase the right cables. Many people don't realize what a significant difference the right cables make, and when they get their new high definition equipment home, they think the equipment itself is to blame when the picture isn't as good as it should be. This is because most components (HD-DVD, Blu-ray, receivers, etc) don't come with cables, so people often use whatever they have around the house, or buy cheap cables, thinking, "It will do." Another reason people don't buy the right cables is because trying to figure out which cables you need can be daunting, and it's hard to know where to start. Our sales representatives are there to explain all your options, so you can make the best purchase and get the most out of your DVD player. |
