| When film is put on DVD, some of the picture and sound can be lost if the DVD player can't "see" them. Many DVD players have converters in them to help with this issue, and the better the converter (called a DAC), the better your videos will look. The DVD758 uses a 12-bit, 216mHz video digital/analog converter to faithfully preserve the delicate low-level signals often lost during D/A conversion. With these advanced video image technologies, you'll get the highest resolution on HDTVs and projectors. And if that's not enough for you, the DVD758's HDMI output supports multi-channel DVD-Video and DVD-Audio output when connected to HDMI-compliant equipment. (That means that you can hook your surround system up to it). For sound, the high quality audio DAC will bring out the best in Super Audio CD (SACD) and DVD-Audio discs, and your entire CD collection. |

| Progressive Scan technology makes a vast improvement over the interlaced scanning because it can process almost twice as much video data. Since interlaced imaging scans every other line of an image, it has to compensate for the missing data between lines. Usually these displays ( traditional tube televisions, some LCDs, and computer monitors) fill in the "missing" line by actually blurring one line slightly into the next. This prevents flickering, but it also causes a less sharp image. On the other hand, progressive scanning gives you more lines of the image, almost twice as many, so that there is less to compensate for. That's why it makes a sharper, noise-free picture with finer details. Faroudja progressive scanning can also upscale images and make even interlaced video appear more natural and crisp. Once available only in the higher-end DVD players, this Faroudja technology has been included in Denon's affordable DVD758. |
