Easy To Use |
Samsung's BDP1400 player includes various user interface menus and subtitle functions to allow consumers to easily discover and search for detailed content regarding the video. The full-color, high definition animated menu and subtitle effects allow you to incorporate your own personal creative touch. With the easy top menu, you change the font and color of subtitles and menu titles as well as the background color and menu graphics to fit your individual style. The Pop-up menu will provide information which is already stored in the contents. You can get more detailed information about the subject of the video while you watch it. |
HDMI Output |
The HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connection on the BDP1400 transfers high definition (1080i/720p/1080p) video and audio from your DVD or BD to your TV, home theater, or other digital A/V components. Simply connect your BDP1400 to your home theater system with a single HDMI cable for the highest quality pictures and sound. The HDMI connection is also CEC enabled, which means that if you have other HDMI CEC components (like your television and receiver), you'll be able to control all your components with one-touch operation. The CEC allows the components to recognize and communicate with each other in a way that allows you to push a single button on the remote and get the appropriate response from your theater system. |
What Exactly Is Blu-ray? |
In the simplest terms, Blu-ray is the next step in DVD technology. The standard DVDs available now are both created and played back using a red laser. Video and audio information is transformed into strings of 1's and 0's (bits of information just like you find in computers). The laser cuts tiny notches into the surface of the disc in the pattern of the numbers. In playback, the laser reads back those strings of numbers and retransforms them into image and sound information. Manufacturers have been using red lasers for this process, but discovered recently that blue-violet lasers can accomplish the same tasks using much less space. Basically, this is because blue-violet lasers produce a much smaller beam than red lasers. So a disc the same physical dimensions can hold around 5GB of information using a red laser and 25GB in a single layer of information using a blue-violet laser. With all of the added capacity, a Blu-ray disc can be used for high definition content, which takes considerably more space than standard definition content. |
The Future Of Blu-ray |
Current dual layer Blu-ray discs can hold up to 50GB. That's over four hours of HDTV programs, or up to 26 hours of standard definition programming. And thanks to the structure of Blu-ray discs, capacity is likely to increase two-fold in the future. What does that mean for you? Discs using the new technology can include interactive menus, any film that didn't make it into the final cut such as outtakes, deleted scenes, and alternate endings, multiple versions of the movie such as widescreen, 4:3, the uncensored version, and the director's commentary version--all of this one side of the disc. And that's only the beginning of the possibilities. Games, music videos, or anything related to the movie can fit on the disc. The possibilities are endless. |
