Dive Right In
So you're ready to take the plunge into the world of digital SLRs? The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi is the easiest to use, and most affordable, entry-level digital SLR on the market. It gives you all the functionality to produce professional quality photographs with point-and-shoot ease. So go on. Get out there and find out how far you can take digital SLR technology!
Go Big Or Go Home
Canon's large-area CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range, and offers the most pixels in its class. This APS-C size sensor (22.2 x 14.8mm) has the same 3:2 ratio as film cameras, enabling an effective angle of view that is 1.6x the normal EF lens focal length. With an effective pixel resolution of 3,904 x 2,598, the Digital Rebel XTi offers superb detail and clarity, even in large prints. With Canon's CMOS sensor, each pixel is captured with fine detail to create images of tremendous depth and resolution, ensuring enough information for even poster-sized prints.
Processing Perfection
The Digital Rebel XTi is the product of Canon's extensive in-house development: The DIGIC II image processor was designed specifically for Canon digital SLR cameras and enhances every aspect of image capture. With the DIGIC II image processor on board, you can expect natural color reproduction, precise white balance in any number of lighting situations, and unparalleled clarity. The DIGIC II image processor employs sophisticated signal processing algorithms and works at greater speeds, all while consuming less energy.
Built For Speed
With a startup time of 0.2 seconds, the Digital Rebel XTi is ready to go the instant it's brought to the eye. And the Digital Rebel XTi's shutter can record images as fast as 1/4000 seconds and as long as 30 sec., plus bulb at up to three frames-per-second for 27 consecutive shots. It synchronizes with Canon Speedlites at 1/200 seconds.
For The Obsessive-Compulsive Side Of You
The Digital Rebel XTi has some of Canon's most advanced improvements in dust reduction. No matter how careful you may be to change lenses in dust free areas and to keep your equipment as clean as possible, dust often ends up on the cameras' sensors, creating distracting spots on recorded images. The Digital Rebel XTi's integrated hardware and software solutions make trouble with dust a thing of the past. The Digital Rebel XTi is the first digital EOS SLR camera to feature this important technology: by ensuring the sensor is free of dust and debris, the camera delivers a cleaner image.
A Big LCD With A Sensitive Side
The EOS Digital Rebel XTi has a brilliant 2.5-inch LCD monitor with approximately 230,000 pixels. All shooting and review information is accessed on the rear LCD monitor, and the wide viewing angle of 160° and brighter, easier-to-read menus give the new Digital Rebel XTi LCD monitor an obvious advantage. When composing images, the Digital Rebel XTi's external display turns off automatically thanks to the newly developed Display Off Sensor. This new sensor detects your face against the back panel of the camera, and turns the screen off to prevent the LCD monitor's brightness from disturbing your eye while looking through the viewfinder.
Take Creative License
The Digital Rebel XTi supports your own creative vision by letting you choose your own focusing point. Dioptric Adjustment lets you shoot comfortably with or without your glasses. If you choose RAW mode, every shot is captured as both a RAW and a JPEG file. RAW files render the most detailed printed images, while less-detailed JPEGs are smaller, making them perfect for sending and viewing on computer screens. Having both kinds of files recorded automatically means that whatever you decide to do with your final images, you're covered.
The Versatility of SLR Photography With Point-and-Shoot Simplicity
The right side mounted Mode Dial gives you 12 versatile shooting modes that let you make the call; shoot fully automatic, master a given situation with a Programmed Image Control mode, experience the excitement of manipulating shutter and aperture combinations, or go fully manual. Additional advanced expusure controls include AE lock, FE lock and Auto Exposure Bracketing, which records three consecutive exposures with one shot to make sure you get the effect you want. And with a touch of the Depth-of-Field preview button, you can check the front-to-back sharpness of an image just before shooting. Illumination is always flattering thanks to Automatic Flash Output Reduction in backlit daytime conditions, and built-in red-eye reduction.
Focusing In On 9-Point AF
The Digital Rebel XTi has a high-precision 9-point Auto Focus (AF) system for speedy and accurate focusing in any situation. Conveniently located on the back of the camera for thumb-controlled action, Canon's cross key buttons enable instant choice of the nine focus points, or allow the camera to choose them automatically. One-Shot is perfect for still photography. AI Servo AF tracks moving subjects, ensuring accurate focus. AI Focus AF switches between One-Shot and AI Servo when subjects are moving and stopping. The Digital Rebel XTi's focusing system functions in metering ranges of EV-0.5 to 18, and displays information on the Digital Rebel XTi's big LCD Display.
Best Of Both Worlds
The Digital Rebel XTi's 35-Zone, AF point-linked Evaluative Metering Sensor and three metering modes make the art of controlling exposure as easy or advanced as you want. 35-Zone Evaluative Metering ensures accurate, consistent exposure, taking into account lighting extremes and subject position through the active focusing point. Whether the light is bright and sunny or darkly atmospheric, whether it comes from the front or the back, exposure is detailed, natural, and flattering. Control is there when you want it, with Partial Metering to bring extra sensitivity to high-contrast situations, or Center-weighted Average Metering in manual exposure mode. Creative exposure options go even further with illumination from the built-in flash or an optional EX-series Speedlite: you can use Canon's most advanced flash metering system, E-TTL, plus FE Lock, High-speed Sync and Wireless E-TTL Autoflash.
Working The System
Canon's EOS System is an excitingly varied, ever-expanding range of interchangeable 35mm and digital cameras, lenses and accessories. New technologies are engineered to work with existing EOS cameras, so the camera and lenses you buy today will continue to grow in flexibility and keep you creatively motivated now and well into the future.

After six months of researching various digital SLR cameras, I recently purchased the Canon Rebel XTI. As a newbie in the field of photography, I wanted a camera that offered elementary features, and something that was cost efficient to my lifestyle. The XTI not only offers simplicity, it comes with a big look at a not so big price.
Mike Redler in customer service, was extremely knowledgeable, very professional and not to mention very patient in assisting me with placing my order. I love my Canon Rebel XTI.
