The only conventional controls on this camera are the on/off switch and the shutter release. One touch will prove that taking pictures has never been this easy before. The monitor's amazing size, high resolution, 16:9 widescreen format, and 160-degree viewing angle alone make picture-taking and playback easy and exciting. But it's the addition of the intuitive TOUCH PANEL control that introduces the simplicity and outright pleasure of easy fingertip control over most camera operations. You can lock autofocus and exposure on your subject simply by touching the corresponding location on the panel. Face-Priority Auto Zoom lets you touch the panel to select a subject and have the camera zoom in automatically to frame the shot perfectly. Don't make a scene

Let the COOLPIX S60 do it for you. When you set Scene Auto Selector, the camera automatically recognizes the scene in your picture and adjusts the camera settings accordingly. Or you can manually select one of 17 Scene Modes optimized for shooting in various settings. Choose from: Handwritten Memo, Food, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Portrait, Party/Indoor, Beach/Snow, Sunset, Dusk/Dawn, Night Landscape, Close-up, Panorama Assist, Museum, Fireworks Show, Copy, or Back Light modes. Just match your current shooting situation with one of these Scene Modes and the camera will make the necessary adjustments to give you an incredible picture. For great portraits, the S60 features Smile Mode that automatically releases the shutter when the camera detects a smile on the face of the subject; and Blink Warning that displays a message when it detects that a subject has blinked, allowing you to retake the shot or save it as is. Face Priority AF is Nikon's face-finding technology that quickly finds and focuses on up to 12 faces in a group portrait.

Things to do after you take the picture

After you've captured an image, you and the camera can work with it. The camera comes equipped with a TOUCH PANEL stylus; and with the Draw Retouch function, you can write a memo or add a drawing in five different pen colors and line thicknesses. The Paint Retouch function allows you to add fun frames and stamps to an image. Retouched images are saved as copies, allowing access to the original image. Without any help from you, Nikon's In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, automatically looks for and fixes most instances of red-eye; while D-Lighting rescues those photos that are too dark for printing by enhancing the underexposed areas of the picture but not touching the properly exposed areas.

High quality movies with sound are just the press of an icon away with your COOLPIX S60. Become a director and record TV-quality movies; duration is limited only by the available space on your SD/SDHC card. Connect the camera to your TV or computer and you have instant home-movies. The HD Pictmotion function, combined with HDMI output, lets you create slide shows with your music for playback on the camera or on your HDTV for the ultimate photo sharing experience.
