The skinny on slow-motion

The first thing we should explain is that the slow-motion effect is created by the high-speed function of the camera. We realize that might sound kind of confusing, so just think of it in terms of action. With high-speed video you can capture high-speed action and slow it down dramatically. Basically, this camera can shoot 1000 frames per second, meaning it can record motion that is ordinarily too fast for the human eye to see. Then, the camera plays all those frames back at a much slower rate than it captured them, making for really exciting, graceful video with hundreds of possible applications. You can even begin recording at the normal rate, and then switch to high-speed with the press of a button, adding incredible drama to any video.

High speed burst = continuous stills

Continuous shooting means you can capture an action shot by holding down the shutter button so that the camera takes a lot of pictures, quickly, in a row. The EXFC100 can take 30 shots per second of 6.0-megapixel images. What's more, they can save up to 25 frames prior to the instant that the shutter button is actually pressed, so even if you hit the shutter a bit late, that special moment won't be missed. To ensure that a natural, fleeting smile is captured, these cameras can automatically select the best image from a set of images taken in burst mode, with the subject smiling, with no photo blur, and with the subject's eyes open. The best image will be saved automatically!

Slow trigger-finger?

These cameras make it possible to set in advance the time lag between the moment that you want to capture and the actual time of taking the picture. This way, it is possible to capture that precious instant at any time, with minimal lag. This works because the cameras select from the images they temporarily store in their burst mode buffers the one image that was taken at the specified interval prior to the shutter being released, and just that image is saved.

HD movies, too

The HD Movie function will record beautiful high definition videos at a size of 1280x720 pixels. Also, pressing the dedicated photo button while shooting an HD movie clip will capture a 6.0-megapixel still image. And whether you're snapping still shots or recording video footage, the EX-FC100's wide 2.7" color LCD screen is great for composing, reviewing, and sharing with friends and family.
