By and Far a Real Winner
The Digimax 420 is a high resolution machine with a 4 megapixel CCD that can capture clear, detailed images up to 2272x1704 pixels. With its 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom giving you 12x total zoom power, you can zoom in on the action and get great pictures time after time. Get close up in a whole different way with the exceptional macro ability of Samsung's SHD lens system. The tremendous versatility of this lens enables it to focus on subjects as close as six centimeters. From majestic mountain scenics to close ups of ice crystals, from 6cm to infinity, there is a whole wide world of photo ops for your Digimax 420.
The Easy Way to Do Digital
Samsung makes it easy to get consistently great pictures with a choice of shooting modes that automatically calculate the best exposure for a variety of shooting conditions. Just choose the setting that matches the scene your shooting, and the camera takes care of the rest, leaving you free to compose your pictures. Three different metering modes give you the power to select how the exposure is calculated giving you more creative power over your images. You can even have the Digimax 420 automatically bracket your exposures giving you an even better shot at getting just the right effect. For the more complicated or creative lighting scenarios, you can easily adjust the exposure using a separate programmable exposure compensation mode. A special night time mode gives excellent results in low light situations where you don't want to use the flash. With auto white balance, auto ISO settings and versatile flash settings, great pictures are a given in almost any situation. Anyplace, anytime, just fire away and then look at all the great pictures you get. Images are stored on an internal 16MB flash memory chip or an external MMC or SD memory card, available in several different memory capacities (sold separately).
Different Ways to Play
You also have several options for viewing your pictures. Samsung's Quick View function gives you a fast look at the fun you've captured and you can also have fun with Slide Show playback or Split-screen mode to split the screen into nine sections and view thumbnail images. To your computer, Digimax 420 looks and acts like a removable disk, so transferring, storing and editing your photos is a simple matter. You don't need to open a special application and perform complicated steps to transfer your images. Just drag them from your camera and drop them in the desired folder on your computer. If you have a compatible digital photo printer, there is a handy DPOF function that enables you to print images without having to first download them to a computer. Video output allows you to connect the Digimax 420 to your TV, VCR or A/V system and view images on your TV, record movie clips and slide shows to VHS and so on. The Movie Clip mode in the Digimax 420 even includes audio capability so you can record sound with your movie clips.
