Achieve clarity
For you, maybe the term "digital photography" evokes fun, spontaneous snapshots at gatherings with friends. Or, maybe the term conjures up notions of sweeping, exotic vistas, high-action sports shots, or creative, aesthetic exposures. In any case, one of the secrets to successful digital photography is clarity — a clear view of your subject through the camera's optics and on the LCD viewscreen, a clear digital image, and finally a clear print. Well, we're happy to report that the DSC-S2100 Cyber-shot digital camera from Sony delivers clarity on all counts. First a Sony lens offering a 3x digital zoom and 35-105mm focal range delivers advanced, reliable optical performance. Second, a 1/2.3" Super HAD CCD image sensor captures high-detail, 12.1-megapixel images with excellent contrast and color. In fact, the 12.1-megapixel resolution is high enough to allow enlargement beyond 8"x 10" without any sacrifice in detail (or clarity!). Finally, the DSC-S2100's large, 3.0" color LCD viewscreen serves up a spacious, detailed, and clear palette for composing, reviewing, and sharing all your shots. With the DSC-S2100, you achieve digital clarity.
Automation for every need
Chances are you're choosing a point-and-shoot camera both for its portability and for the ability to take great photos while paying more attention to the fun that's going on rather than to camera settings. Accordingly, you've found your way to Sony's Cyber-shot series, known for its diverse offering of automatic features. The DSC-S2100's Intelligent Scene Recognition mode automatically detects seven different types of scene conditions and selects the appropriate camera settings within 1/30th of a second. While Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and controls flash, focus, exposure, and white balance to deliver accurate, natural skin tones, Red-eye Reduction reduces common red-eye problems. Further, Smile Shutter Technology automatically detects and captures a smiling face so that you never miss a happy shot. Finally, an Easy Shooting mode helps beginners take great photos by providing easy-to-understand instructions on the 3.0" LCD screen and by automatically selecting exposure settings, allowing the photographer to focus their attention on the subject.
All you need is a director's chair
Lights. Camera. Action! That's right, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S2100 equips you to shoot 640 x 480 and 320 x 240 video footage. Not only can you capture great, impromptu moments with friends or family, but because the DSC-S2100 records in MP4 format, you can easily transfer your footage to your computer, and then on to the internet and sites like Photobucket or YouTube where you can share them with everyone.
Just a little touch up
You always want your photos to look their very best, even if you're just sharing the latest shots with friends right on the LCD viewscreen. Accordingly, the folks at Sony have equipped the DSC-S2100 with a few in-camera retouching tools. Allowing you to give your most recent images a little touching up before you get home to do some serious editing, this Cyber-shot camera offers in-camera trimming and red-eye correction.
A powerful feature
Many digital cameras sport built-in rechargeable batteries, many using Lithium-ion technology. This is all fine and dandy, except when you're out on an adventure and you run out of power a long way from an outlet, or when you'd rather not stop having fun to sit around and let a battery charge for two hours. Ensuring that you're always able to re-fuel your digital photography experience, the Sony DSC-S2100 uses a pair of AA batteries as its power source. As soon as one pair runs out of juice, all you have to do to recharge is swap in a fresh pair. And if you happen to run out of new batteries, size-AA batteries are so common, you ought to be able to stop just about anywhere to pick up a new pack. Well, get going!

I have purchased 2 Sony cameras from Vanns over the
past several years. I really like my Sony Digital Camera for the simplicity of use, the ease in handling as I have arthritic hands and the cameras light weight is perfect for my use.I was also looking for a digital camera that required AA batteries. I compared this camera to others and I was very pleased with Vanns reasonable prices and prompt service. My other camera that was purchased through Vanns was also a Sony, a DVD Handycam.. I have never been disappointed with either purchase.

Bought camera last week and i am really happy with the performance. As with this price you are getting 12.1 MP camera and again with Sony Brand... The batery is the only prob. it has pencil cells rather than Lithium baterry, but still if price is constraint this product is worth.

i had a cannon a1000 10 mp camera that i loved but this sony proved to be even better. the pictures come out much sharper and more detailed. i compared pics from both cameras and the sony pics can be enlarged much bigger without losing image distortion. perhaps its because the sony camera is 12 mp vs 10 on the cannon. this sony is so easy to use its ready to go right out of the box after you put batteries in it. the only con i have with the sony is that it doesnt have a viewfinder like the canon a1100 and a1000 do, but it does have a nice 3 inch screen in the back to make up for this. this may be the best camera hands down for the money. Vanns is a great place to buy electronics from and they delivered my camera quickly.

I recently purchased the Sony Digital Camera DSCS2100. I love my new Sony 12.1 megapixel camera, it is so easy to use and the pictures are crystal clear. No other camera i have ever purchased or even used compares to this camera. I am no expert when it comes to electronical equipment but this camera is so easy to use I can shot pictures with confidence of a professional anyone who purchased this camera would benefit greatly. I love every feature on this camera but there were two factors that greatly influenced my decision to purchase this particular camera the first was the face detection, and the second was the price. Great value, great value, great value.
