Record, view and edit your memories, all on DVD |
Because your new VDR-D50 digital camcorder from Panasonic is a DVD camcorder, it delivers a wealth of performance and ease when it comes to recording, viewing and editing your video memories. First, the VDR-D50 records MPEG2 motion images to an 8 cm DVD also known as a miniDVD in both a 4:3 standard and 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio using a 1/6" CCD image sensor. Providing you with recording-format versatility, the VDRD50 also records to SD and SDHC memory cards. Second, viewing your footage is easy simply transfer the miniDVD or memory card to a compatible DVD player and BAM! you're enjoying what you've recorded right on your own television. Finally, all that you need to do to edit your footage is to transfer the DVD disc directly to your PC or to use the included USB cable and built-in port to connect the VDRD50 to your PC and transfer your data through that interface. Once you have your footage loaded onto your PC, you can use the included VideoCam Suite 1.0 software to customize the order of your scenes or delete unwanted scenes. |
A clear view from the director's chair |
You have a powerful tool for composing, reviewing and sharing each scene you shoot, thanks to the VDRD50's color LCD viewscreen. Not only does a color image with a 123,200 dot resolution deliver a detailed view, but at 2.7" wide, the VDR-D50's viewscreen gives you a broad, clear view of each frame and your subject, as well. Also, the ability to rotate the screen means that you won't be limited to taking only particular shots you can adjust the position of the screen to face you. Shooting your footage isn't the only thing that benefits from the VDR-D50's viewscreen you also get a bright, detailed display for reviewing shots and sharing them with friends and family on the go.

See far, see steady |
The VDRD50's 42x optical zoom lens has the power you need to take dramatic closeups or get remarkable shots of distant subjects. But with long-distance zoom shots, even a tiny bit of hand shake has a huge effect on picture quality. That's where Panasonic's Advanced Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) comes in, suppressing the effects of hand shake as you shoot. The system uses gyrosensors to detect hand shake, then shifts a lens and adjusts the optical axis to compensate. This all happens a remarkable 4,000 times per second. And because the system is optical, no image quality is lost. Thanks to Advanced O.I.S., the images you capture look incredibly clear, sharp and blur-free even at high zoom levels. |
Hold it right there! . . . Still-image shooting |
Don't feel limited to shooting just motion images, and don't bother to carry your digital point-and-shoot camera with you to video-shooting events just "in case" you need it. Your Panasonic VDR-D50 also takes still shots, in both the 4:3 standard aspect ratio (640 x 480 pixels) and the 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio (640 x 360 pixels). Depending on whether you save them to an SDHC or SD card, you can shoot up to 99,999 still shots. Oh, and let's say you want to have a physical copy of a particular shot to pass around the office or the family reunion . . . the VDRD50 is PictBridge compatible. The PictBridge standard lets you print directly on a compatible digital printer. Print size, layout, date, and other settings can be made with the camcorder itself. |
On your marks, Get set . . . QuickStart! |
Technology is supposed to keep you ahead of the game. Don't miss sudden, unexpected video moments because you have to wait for your camcorder to start-up. The VDRD50's QuickStart mode allows recording to begin 1.7 seconds after the LCD view screen is opened. Whoa. That's fast. |
Chemistry 101 Your VDRD50's ionic battery |
Because your new VDRD50 digital camcorder is powered by a lithium-ion battery, it brings you more than just incredible power. First, because lithium has the third lightest atomic mass of any element, lithium-ion batteries are some of the lightest batteries available. Second, Lithium-ion batteries have a lower loss-of-charge rate overall in comparison with other battery types and they do not suffer from 'memory loss' or a decline in total energy capacity. The lithium-ion battery featured on your VDRD50 brings you light-weight, long-lasting and reliable power for your digital photography needs. |
