Tuf — That's right, "tough" with an "f"
Whoopee!! You and the fam are headed to the beach a warm, blue-watered, sunny, silky-sanded beach in the tropics for vacation. Little do you know, beaches what with all the water, sand, and rocks can be a perilous locale for your memory-preserving camcorder. Well, unless you're packing the SDR-SW20 from Panasonic. This compact SD digital camcorder is built tough so that you can shoot in places never before possible. Take it underwater as deep as 5' for great video in the pool or ocean. Waterproofing also means that you can shoot in the rain or snow without worry. The SDR-SW20 is also shockproof, resisting damage even if dropped from a height of up to 4', thanks to improved internal and external fortification. Also, a dustproof design keeps the camcorder safe even if handled with dirty hands or used in a place with swirling dust. Take it to the beach or sports field without worrying about sand. Oh, and because it's waterproof, if it gets dirty, you can simply wash it off with water.
A few words about the nuts and bolts
All those "proofs" — waterproof, shockproof, dustproof — only matter because what you're capturing on the SDR-SW20 are sharp, clean, high-detail memories. A 1/6" CCD image sensor provides optimal light sensitivity (with a 2 lux minimum) and detail (with a 680,000-pixel resolution), while a 10x variable-speed optical zoom lets you reach out and capture distant subjects. With the SDR-SW20's 2.7" LCD view screen, you have a wide view for composing, reviewing and sharing each shot.
Simple DVD copying and cable-free viewing
Equipped with a handy-dandy USB port, your new SDE-SW20 takes all of the hassle out of copying your video memories to DVD. Use the USB port and included USB cable to connect the SDR-SW20 directly to a DVD burner. Copying and recording from your SDR-SW20's SD card to a DVD disc is, then, as simple as following a few menu procedures. When it comes to viewing your video, simply transfer the SD card from the camcorder to any TV or DVD player with an SD-card slot. You enjoy your video footage quickly without the hassle of setting up and connecting video cables and components.
Editing your footage is a cinch, too
As far as editing your video footage goes, you only need to follow a couple of simple steps. First, transfer motion-image data from an SD card to your PC using the USB ports on your SDR-SW20 and your PC. Second, with the MotionSD STUDIO 1.3E software included with your purchase, begin editing by arranging scenes in a different order, deleting unwanted scenes, or by adding a wide variety of video effecs.
On your marks, Get set . . . QuickStart!
Technology is supposed to keep you ahead of the game. Don't miss sudden, unexpected video moments because you have to wait for your camcorder to start-up. The SDR-SW20's QuickStart mode allows recording to begin 0.6 seconds after the LCD view screen is opened. Whoa. That's fast.
Chemistry 101 Your SDR-SW20's ionic battery
Because your new SDR-SW20 digital camcorder is powered by a lithium-ion battery, it brings you more than just incredible power. First, because lithium has the third lightest atomic mass of any element, lithium-ion batteries are some of the lightest batteries available. Second, Lithium-ion batteries have a lower loss-of-charge rate overall in comparison with other battery types and they do not suffer from 'memory loss' or a decline in total energy capacity. The lithium-ion battery featured on your SDR-SW20 brings you light-weight, long-lasting and reliable power for your digital photography needs.
