The Handycam® DCRDVD610 uses simple controls and powerful features that make it easy to shoot and share video. The powerful 40x Optical Zoom and 2000x Digital Zoom help you close in on your favorite highlights, while Super Steady Shot® image stabilization reduces blur from camera shake. Face and film index

Think of the last DVD movie you watched. The title menu shows thumbnail images to represent each chapter, which makes it easy to orient yourself in the 2 hours of film. Face and film indexes work in a similar way. Press the Film Roll button and preview the beginning of scenes (or create your own thumbnail images) at different intervals (3, 6, or 12 seconds and 1 or 5 minutes.) So rather than wading through hours of film to find little Mike's first steps, glance through 10 or 15 face and film indexes. There's a still shot of baby Mike. Press the thumbnail and the cherished moment swings into motion. Easy, isn't it?

The DCRDVD610 features a 1/8" Advanced HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD, providing stunning detail and clarity with exceptional video and still image performance. Your video also benefits from the professional quality Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar® lens. Carl Zeiss lenses have an advanced optical multi-layer coating that offers less glare and flare with increased contrast. This results in vivid image brilliance, true-to-life color saturation, and perfect renditions of subtle tones. The additional T coating on the lens further reduces unwanted glare and flare. The DCRDVD610 records in Dolby Digital 2-channel surround sound with its built-in zoom microphone. Enjoy your personal home movies the way you experienced them while recording.

With Sony's Super SteadyShot® picture stabilization system, this is no longer a concern. This advanced stabilization system uses motion sensors capable of controlling a higher range of shake and vibration frequencies, to keep your videos as steady as possible, without sacrificing quality.

Handycam lives up to its name

Using a camcorder can be intimidating for some people. With a press of the easy handycam button, most of the advanced features of the camcorder are locked out, letting you focus on only the buttons essential for recording. Scene modes include auto, twilight, candle, sunrise and sunset, fireworks, landscape, portrait, spotlight, sports, beach, and snow. Missing an important scene can be frustrating, especially if the reason is because your camcorder is turned off. With the Quick On feature, the touch of a single button places that camcorder in Sleep mode. Another push instantly wakes the camcorder, so you'll always be ready to capture special moments.

Creative techniques

Get creative when recording or playing back your videos with Sony's picture effect modes. Effects are available in either camera or playback mode, and include monotone, pastel, and sepia. Enhance your personal videos by adding professional looking fader effects. Choose from black and white. The DCRDVD610 lets you stay connected to family and friends by broadcasting live video with audio over the internet using the USB interface. It's like having your own video teleconferencing system.

More great features

A USB 2.0 interface provides an easy way to connect your camcorder to the computer for fast transfer of video and still images to your PC for editing. The camcorder can also be used as an external DVD burner for making copies of your DVDs or burning edited movies. Digital Still Memory Mode lets you capture still images directly onto Memory Stick Duo Media for easy transfer to PCs for emailing, printing, or sharing with other compatible Memory Stick devices. Finally, the DCRDVD610's analog inputs mean you can record any analog NTSC source to digital video. These inputs make the camcorder perfect for archiving analog tape recordings. Unlike NiCad (Nickel Cadmium) batteries, Sony's rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries are not subject to life shortening "memory effect". Sony's exclusive AccuPower meter displays the battery time remaining in minutes, in either the viewfinder or on the LCD screen. At the touch of a button, battery information is displayed on the LCD screen when charging and when the camcorder is turned off. The display will show how much the battery is charged, in 10 percent increments and the recordable time left when using the LCD screen or in the viewfinder.
