Super Slim Design, Records Straight To DVD |
| Canon's DC20 unites the convenience and image quality of DVD with one of the smallest Megapixel camcorders available. Super-thin and compact, it's never been easier to capture your most unforgettable moments--with a camcorder that's only two-inches wide. It's simple to carry it with you in a tote bag or coat pocket so your DC20 is never far from where you need it. This digital camcorder's DVD technology lets you record directly to DVDs, plus providing a variety of options for shooting and sharing. Only 8 cms (3.15") in diameter, the DC20's DVD-R/RW discs are compatible with most DVD players; and can store up to 30 minutes of video in standard mode, and 60 minutes in long play mode. That's 120 minutes on a double-sided disc! With the DC20's DVD technology, you never have to worry about mistakenly recording over a once-in-a-lifetime scene. You simply shoot, and the DC20 ensures that you are recording onto a blank part of the DVD. DVD functionality also makes it possible for you to review your footage quickly and easily without the bother of rewind or fast-forward searching. With the camcorder's Visual Index, you can review your footage at a glance and play the selection you want. You can even select shots and arrange them into a playlist. It's like editing your video right in the camcorder! And what's more, the DVD finalization process is quick and easy with the DC20. It's just one more reason why you'll love recording direct to DVD with your DC20. |

Shoot Your Own Widescreen Video |
| You want your memories to last forever--that's why you've taken the time to shoot them. And you want to shoot in widescreen mode to get everything you can out of your new widescreen TV or home theater system. So why is the way you record widescreen images so important? Because you want an image made for widescreen, not adapted for widescreen. Widescreen is the future--every HD television is widescreen. Canon camcorders use the entire width of the image sensor to capture video in true 16:9 mode. With more pixels captured, you get better image quality. Other camcorders force the wider picture into a smaller space on the sensor, giving you a less true image, with fewer pixels and lower quality. On a Canon camcorder, the canals of Venice will be as grand as you remembered seeing them. In addition, the viewscreen on your DC20 will display the image in letterbox. What you see is what you get. To make it even easier, a Widescreen Button lets you switch from standard 4:3 to 16:9 Widescreen Mode at the touch of your finger. The widescreen feature can also be used in both Program Mode and Easy Recording Mode, as well as with the camcorder's advanced image stabilization. Remember, widescreen is the future. Invest in that future with a Canon DC20 camcorder. |

Rock-Steady Video Through Superior Optics |
| The DC20's built-in high-quality image stabilizer allows you to shoot rock-steady video, whether you're shooting sporting events, fun and games at a child's birthday party, or capturing a shot at a long focal length. It even works while panning and zooming. Thanks to Canon's superior electronic expertise, the DC20's image stabilization system corrects camcorder shake instantly, thereby eliminating one of the telltale signs of amateur video. And the name Canon is synonymous with unsurpassed optical performance. Brilliant optical quality is part of every Canon broadcast TV camera, 35mm film camera, and camcorder; the DC20 is no exception. The DC20 comes with a 10x optical zoom lens, precisely matched to the camcorder's CCD and featuring a unique, super spectra coating developed exclusively by Canon to reduce flare and ghosting for a clean image. Combined with the camcorder's powerful 200x digital zoom, the lens gives an impressive range of focal lengths. That means you always have the perfect lens, whether you're on vacation recording a breathtaking landscape, capturing a group shot at a wedding, or shooting close-ups. |

Processing The Red, Green, And Blue |
| One of the reasons the DC20 delivers stunningly vivid video and still images is its razor-sharp 2.2 Megapixel CCD, one of Canon's DV Photo Plus technologies that ensures brilliant results. Because Canon's exclusive DIGIC DV signal processing circuit processes video and still images differently, you get uncompromising image quality for both. Video and still images have different color requirements and DIGIC DV technology processes the two signals accordingly. That means your video images are maximized for viewing on monitors and for projection. DIGIC DV processing performance is then combined with Canon's advanced RGB Primary Color Filter. Other camcorders process color using a standard CMYG filter, resulting in duller colors. Canon's RGB filter separates light into its red, green, and blue components resulting in natural-looking tones and vivid hues. Together, these two technologies ensure that images are captured with outstanding clarity, giving you brilliant image quality to match the camcorder's brilliant DVD functionality. |

Don't Bogart That Video My Friend |
| When Easy Rider rolled across movie screens in 1969, all home video was shot on 8 mm or 16 mm film; and film wasn't easy to shoot, had to be processed in a lab, required a projector and screen to be viewed, and wasn't convenient to duplicate. Home video got a lot simpler in 1976 with the introduction of VHS cassette tapes, but the best was yet to come. The DC20's DVD technology not only makes it easy to capture great images, it also makes it easy to share your video with family and friends. To begin with, you can simply watch the video you've just shot by connecting the DC20 to your TV and viewing your unfinalized DVD. (The DC20 comes with both S-Video and Composite output.) Or, finalize the DVD, and then watch it on your TV through your DVD player. You can also share your video by connecting the DC20 to your computer with the supplied USB cable. Then, with one touch of the Print & Share button, you can transfer your video footage to your hard drive. Once your video is transferred, the supplied MyDVD software lets you edit your footage, create chapter and play menus, or burn the footage to additional DVDs. Plus, even if your computer doesn't have a DVD drive, you can still make DVDs to share by using the DC20 to create another DVD. |
More Ways To Share |
| Print & Share--another of Canon's DV Photo Plus technologies--turns your DC20 into a photo lab in the palm of your hand. Simply connect your camcorder directly to select Canon printers or any PictBridge-compatible printer with the supplied USB cable. Then, with a simple touch of the Print & Share button, you can print directly from the DC20 without going through a computer. Print & Share also makes it easy to transfer still images to your computer. Simply connect the DC20 to your computer, press the Print & Share button, and your photos are downloaded to your computer. You can also share your photos another way, thanks to the camcorder's miniSD Memory Card. Popularly used in today's newest cell phones and half the size of a standard SD card, the miniSD Card offers the benefit of high-capacity storage in a very small size. |

What More Could You Want? Let's See |
| There's a wide selection of automatic exposure scene modes making it easy to capture great photos--and video--under any conditions. Portrait mode ensures shallow depth of field for a pleasing background to your shots of friends and family. Sports mode stops the action with faster shutter speeds. Night mode is designed to give you great shots after the sun goes down. Snow and Beach modes compensate for bright surroundings and give you the proper exposure on your subject. Sunset mode results in vibrant, well-exposed colors for one of the toughest subjects to capture. Use Spotlight mode when your child is on stage and in the spotlight--literally--and you want to make sure the exposure is right. And, Fireworks mode records brilliant images of another tough subject: the holiday fireworks display. Like any good digital still camera, the DC20 lets you choose from a range of exposure modes. Auto mode automatically sets the exposure, letting you concentrate on your subject. AV (aperture priority) lets you control depth of field by letting you choose the aperture. TV (shutter priority) lets you select the shutter speed for sharp, action shots. In P (program) mode, the camcorder adjusts camera settings automatically. For advanced photographers--and videographers--the DC20 gives you a choice of metering modes. Depending on lighting conditions and your subject, you can choose among: Evaluative, Center-Weighted Average, and Spot metering. To capture the perfectly exposed shot, even under tricky lighting conditions, Auto Exposure Bracketing automatically lets you capture three photos--one at normal exposure, one underexposed, and one overexposed. And Canon's 9-Point Auto Intelligent Auto Focus (Ai-AF) ensures sharp images and gives creative flexibility. Even when your subject isn't in the center of the frame, the DC20's Ai-AF will bring it into sharp focus. |

Want Even More? You Got It |
| With continuous shooting mode, the DC20 operates like a camera with a motor drive, for rapid-fire shooting at 3 frames/second (1632 x 1224) or 5 frames/second (1280 x 960). It's perfect for fast-action sports, or even faster kid-action! Simultaneous Photo Recording lets you capture e-mail-ready digital photos to a memory card at the same time you record video. A 2.5" color LCD viewcreen with backlight makes it easy to compose and review your shots. The backlight feature gives you a bright, easy-to-see screen, even in direct sunlight. The Easy Color Menu System has been newly designed, making the DC20 simple to operate; while Selectable Display Languages gives you the choice of English, as well as Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, and Korean. The DC20 lets you choose image effects to add creative flare to your photos: Vivid, Neutral, Low-Sharpening, Soft Skin Detail, and Custom; while Digital Effects/Fades add professional looking touches to your videos. Stitch Assist software lets you create an impressive panoramic image from a series of still images. The Photo Review Button is a quick and easy way to ensure you got your shot. A built-in lens cover means you never have to go looking for your lens cover again. Plus, you don't have the bother of your lens cap dangling from your camcorder. Dolby Digital 2 Channel Audio ensures your audio quality is as good as your image quality. USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Speed Terminal allows the fastest transfer of MPEG2 compressed video. And the wireless remote controller lets you operate the DC20 from a distance, so you won't be left out of the picture. |
