Serious wow factor
Whether you want to relax to smooth tunes or host a movie screening, Mirage's MX 5.1 home audio speakers serve up some serious wow factor. It's immersive sound that won't drown out your decor or intrude upon your everyday lifestyle. Consisting of five itty bitty speakers and a miniature subwoofer cube finished in high-gloss black, the MX is a sophisticated surround sound system that perfectly demonstrates what's possible using all of today's incredible technologies. In fact, its extremely high performance drivers and components will blow you away, so hold on tight.
Watershed design
Each two-way MX speaker has a maximum power handling of 100 watts, allowing it to work well with a wide variety of amplifiers. Inside each durable polycarbon enclosure, you'll find a 0.63" pure titanium hybrid tweeter for warm, rich high frequencies and a 2.5" aluminum woofer for substantial, low distortion bass performance. However, the fact that Mirage was able to apply its unique Omnipolar® technology to a product this size is the most impressive feature of them all. It's what makes these small audio speakers sound huge and immersive. At the core of Omnipolar technology, you'll find the patented Omniguide module, which has two deflectors. While one deflector rests on top of the speaker's tweeter, the tweeter itself is housed in a deflector, suspended over the woofer. These combined elements distribute sound directly towards the listener, as well as reflect it off walls, ceilings, and other surfaces. This results in a 360-degree soundstage that evenly permeates the listening environment.
Put some bass in your place
An 8" cube constructed of rigid MDF, the MX system's MM-6 subwoofer employs an 800-watt amplifier, dual 6.5" black anodized aluminum passive radiators, and a 6.5" black anodized aluminum cone woofer with an inverted Ribbed Elliptical Surround, delivering tight, powerful bass response with low distortion. The subwoofer also includes a proprietary protection circuit, letting you achieve clear bass at all volume levels. A low pass filter with bypass mode allows the subwoofer to blend perfectly with the other MX speakers, using the built-in crossover or a home theater receiver.

I was skeptical at first about leaving my mid size Klipsch mains with surround sound for these satellites. My nerves have been calmed as these put out huge sound with very nice range. The smaller sub thumps and the speakers seem to envelope you in sound....all wrapped up in a smaller, sleek package. 2 thumbs up. Im very happy I made the purchase.

These little speakers sound great! The piano black finish looks extremely good. They are well built and deliver great deal for their size. I replaced a BOSE acoustimass 10 IV system with these and couldnt believe the difference in sound BOSE is overrated. However, I realized after buying these I wanted more. There is no question that anyone looking for a small satellite system should bypass these because they offer a big bang for the price. I just want more sound and detail so I returned these and bought a Definitive Technology floor speaker system. There isnt a satellite system in the world that can do what a set of floor speakers can so there isnt any comparison to what I bought. I just wanted more and they only way to get it was by spending a lot more for a lot bigger system. I had these Mirage speakers for a couple weeks and listened to them enough to recommend them to anyone looking for a small sat system. These speakers offer more than most sat systems and are well worth the money if you are on a tight budget for a 5.1 system.

Bought this speaker system to replace my very large, very heavy, very expensive speaker system. The Mirage MX 5.1 Speaker System arrived in one box, well packaged, was easy to mount and install, came with clear, easily understandable instructions and sounds brilliant. Not only did I save a lot of floor space from my previous system but the sound is absolutely great--excellent range, highs, lows and mid-range, the subwoofer delivers an amazing, balanced bass without booming and the weight versus size lets you know that these are a good, quality product. Cant think of a downside or Id write it. Very pleased with the price, quality and performance. Would recommend highly.

I purchased this speaker set 2 weeks back.Vanns gave me an amazing deal that i didnt find anywhere on the internet. The customer service was amazing.
I paired the speaker set with Denon AVR 1912 and let the receiver do the auto calibration. My experience seems to be mixed on these speakers. They are very tiny and the sound that comes out of it is amazing, very clear and crisp, but it lacks depth and fullness.
I may have to do some more testing on settings of bass and speakers.
Bottom line - Tiny Speakers, can be hidden easily, amazing sound, missing depth.

The mirage MX 5.1 is an excellent set of speakers and i was wowed at how beautiful they sounded.the entire system weighed 20 pounds. My initial doubts were blown off once i turned the system on. Dialogues were clear and the soundstage was wide. i tried these ina 10*15 feet living room and it filled the space with no problem. The sub woofer sounded fantastic for music. it was tight and punchy though it did strain for explosions in movies. i enjoyed it thoroughly for a week until the sub-woofer started going bad. 2 of the passive radiators started rattling. i suspcted it was a bad circuit or QA issue with the assembly. Called up Vanns to return it. Wow. what a customer service. patient ,friendly and understanding.200 for customer service.vanns took up return shipping and refunded 100 sincethey confirmed unit as defective when they got it back from me. I was looking for small speakers with good sound quality for 16x14 size room and Mirage MX was my best bet. Speakers are powered by Yamaha RX-V867 and I am extremely satisfied with the sound quality. Speaker produce clear highs and watching sports or movies in my HDTV is real fun now. Pros - Omni technology provides a great sound experience Music, cinema, sports - Stylish, very small and high gloss black finish - Awesome sound, highs and upper mids - Sub volume, frequency can be adjusted. Small enough, you can easily hide it Cons - Center channel voices are thin. If you have a big room then you may need to buy a OS3 CC for clear voice - I found bit difficult to fit speakers in my wall, may be it doesn't have flat surface in the back

These smaller speakers are a little heavier than expected, but when you connect them you realize why. I have them hooked up to a Yamaha RX-A1000 receiver and sound is incredible in everything from music to movies.
The sub-woofer provides solid bass that I would expect from a much larger box. I havent completely burned it in yet, but out-of-the-box the sound is outstanding.
Overall the vendor write-up falls short of what these speakers are capable.

At first I was nervous about ordering such a small speaker and boy Im glad I ordered them. When the speakers arrived I could not believe how small the box was. It was about 2 12 feet tall and it had the sub and 5 speakers in it. Setup was easy and once I broke in the speakers after about a week it really started to sound great. My son and I watched Independence Day on HBO and I was floored in one scene where a helicopter flew over it sounded like it was right above us. Because the speakers point up at the ceiling I think it recreates a true surround sound experience. Please do not hesitate to order these speakers.

The technology to provide very high-quality, accurate sound has existed for some time. The problem for me has always been that I am well aware of listening to individual speakers. The sound comes from specific locations. For decades speakers have been called transparent if they dont color the sound too much. Mirage speakers are really transparent, meaning there is little sensation of listening to speakers and much more an illusion of listening to an actual performance. The MX speakers produce a huge sound stage, which extends far beyond where they are placed in the room. They are very nice looking, appear to be well made, and their small size makes them easy to place in the room.

I wanted small speakers because my room is medium sized and I am living in a rented apartment where I have limited options in terms of speaker placement. I was looking to connect my TVIX 6500 and Xbox 360 to a good home theatre system. I had read about Mirages Omnipolar technology which makes good use of reflective surfaces to create an immersive experience.
I made my purchase from Vanns. The package arrived within 4 days. I was surprised how small the Mirage MX 5.1 packaging was. The speakers looked really small with equally small subwoofer.
They are small, barely 4 tall, with a very glossy black finish. As mentioned on the Mirage site Inside each durable polycarbon enclosure, youll find a .63-inch pure titanium hybrid tweeter for warm, rich high frequencies and a 2.5-inch aluminum woofer for substantial, low distortion bass performance. All the MX 5.1 system speakers are identical. Note that it doesnt come with a dedicated center channel speaker it does seem to sound better because of it. The speaker grille is covered with a black cloth and is magnetically attached to the speaker. It comes off with a little force and goes back on easily. The speakers can be wall mounted on a screw or brackets easily. If you intend to mount the speakers on the ceiling then Mirage recommends that the speakers should be placed upside to direct the sound to the listener properly. The subwoofer is compact 8 cube complementing the miniature speakers. 6.5-inch woofer and dual passive radiators deliver powerful deep bass while still being compact enough to be tucked away discreetly in the room décor.
Connected to the Onkyo HT-RC160 receiver, the sound really fills up my medium size room easily it was very difficult to figure out the location of the speakers once the system was calibrated. This system offers high quality sound in small and medium sized rooms whether you are watching movies or listening to music. I really got a big bang for the buck from this purchase.
