| This speaker package exudes a feeling of power. Providing a more-than-capable match for the receiver, this package of seven speakers includes two fronts and a center channel (all with dual 5" A-OMF midrange woofers and 1" soft-dome tweeters), four surrounds (with 5.13" woofers and 1" tweeters), and a 230-watt powered subwoofer with a 12" cone driver. Onkyo features the Advanced Onkyo Micro Fiber (OMF) diaphragm in each 5" woofer. A-OMF utilizes a pure cotton weave and a polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) layer to absorb vibrations, maintain strength, and resist heat. Thin and rigid, this fiber enables a fast, accurate response, which brings an exceptional midrange clarity to this system. | Yep. Crazy, but true. The HTS990 incorporates 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for all channels. You can expect these DACs to give you a comparable audio quality to separate components. With a much higher resolution than the incoming signal, the DACs enable the receiver to generate a more accurate audio playback. Also, the DAC's 128x oversampling rate optimizes the signal-to-noise ratio and increases clock jitter tolerance. You'll be hard pressed to find home theater packages incorporating these DACs at all, let alone for all channels. Enjoy! |

The Cream Of DTS And Dolby Digital Processing Technologies |

| Incorporating powerful DTS and Dolby Digital decoders into the HTS990 gives some powerful playback platforms. Dolby Digital EX takes a 5.1 video source and uses matrix decoding to derive a center surround channel from the left and right surrounds. DTS-ES Matrix works in the same way except it uses DTS's own matrix technology, while DTS-ES Discrete plays back discrete, 6.1 channel content from DVDs and CDs. With DTS Neo:6, a matrix system derives six channels from two-channel source material. Dolby Pro Logic IIx transforms any native stereo or 5.1 signal into a 6.1- or 7.1-channel output with Movie, Music, and Game modes that effectively tailor your sound to the source material.
