Harman Kardon CP 60 Features

The Best of Three Worlds

This 5.1 home theater system, the CP60, combines the AVR247 A/V receiver's high-current amplification with the pixel-by-pixel processing and HDMI upconversion capability of the DVD38 player and the sonic perfection of HKTS15 speaker system. This three-tiered system is a perfect blend of video and audio presentation, with each aspect seamlessly joined into one dynamic entertainment experience. This system comes equipped with a remote control that allows you to control every aspect of the system comfortably from across the room, and an EzSet+ microphone to automatically get the best sound out of your new DVD theater system.

DVD Player Plus

The DVD38 is a state-of-the-art optical disc player that can play almost every music, movie and still image disc in your library with the highest fidelity available today. Along with playback of conventional DVD movie discs and audio CDs, the DVD38 lets you enjoy the latest high-resolution DVD-Audio discs, with HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) output of pure, uncompressed digital audio and video that showcases your favorite movies and music as you've never experienced them before. A virtually universal player, the DVD38 can also play files recorded on a computer's optical drive in the MP3 or Windows Media formats. CD-R/RW discs, DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW discs and VCD programs, and still images recorded in the JPEG format. Regardless of a disc's format, the DVD38 video and audio playback is of the highest quality, thanks to pixel-by-pixel video processing and true 3/2 pulldown reconstruction of film-based programming. When used with an HDMI-compatible audio/video receiver and video display, the program quality is preserved. By passing an uncompressed signal, degradation is virtually nonexistent. And the single-cable connection eliminates the problem of wire management. And the DVD38 features HDMI upscaling to 720p or 1080i for terrific video reproduction with compatible monitors.

Getting The Most From Your DVDs

If you have not yet upgraded to an HDMI video display, you may still enjoy pristine picture quality with the DVD38's precision video DACs, which output a Y/Pr/Pb progressive scan component signal and composite and S-video. Thus, no matter what type of video display used, you will see images that are the closest thing to the original film or performance this side of your local theater. To further fine-tune the video output, a built-in test pattern may be used in conjunction with either the controls on your display, or the video output adjustments on the DVD38. In addition to both optical and coaxial digital outputs for Dolby Digital, DTS or PCM recordings, the analog outputs for down-mixed stereo or DVD-Audio playback use audio-phile-grade digital-to-analog converters for crystal-clear outputs. The DVD38's exclusive graphical interface makes it easy to get started, simplifying setup and configuration adjustments. During playback, the on-screen menus allow a wide range of program options. Additional menu options provide a full range of parental control features to control which discs may be viewed by younger members of the household, among other things.

Sonic Boom

The HKTS15 is a six-piece home theater speaker system that includes a 10-inch, 100-watt, bass reflex powered subwoofer, four identical, two-way satellite speakers for use in the left and right front and rear speaker positions, a voice-matched, dedicated, dual-drive center speaker, shelf stands and wall-mount brackets for the four satellites, and all of the speaker cables you need to connect your speakers to your receiver or preamp/processor and amplifier. The speaker cables and speakers are all color-coded to conform to the CEA standard, simplifying setup. The subwoofer is easy to connect to your system, since it's equipped with a subwoofer input. It also includes stereo speaker-level inputs and outputs. Other conveniences include a level control, an external trigger input for automatic turn-on when connected to a compatible product, a high-cut (low-pass) filter switch and a phase switch for fine-tuning bass response to suit your listening environment and taste, and audio-sense auto turn-on, which senses the presence of an audio signal and automatically switches the unit from Standby mode to Active mode.

Receiver Of Respect

Letter perfect. That's a great description for the AVR247. It's XM Ready, features two-input HDMI switching, and includes EzSet+ and iPod connectivity through The Bridge (sold separately). Incoming video is transcoded to component video, and audio is processed with virtually every surround mode available. Add the sonic perfection you expect from Harman Kardon and you've got all you need, from A to Z.

How Easy Is It?

For those of you in the world with a certain, shall we say, lack of technological expertise (you know who you are), the AVR247 is for you. Speaker setup and calibration has never been so easy. Of course, it's a handy tool for those individuals who simply lack the patience to do it all manually. Until recently, most receivers required the user to perform the calibration and configuration manually, a somewhat tedious process that called for a good ear or the purchase of an SPL (sound-pressure level) meter. Although you may configure the AVR 247 manually, feel free to take advantage of Harman Kardon's signature EzSet+ system. All you have to do is set up the EzSet+ microphone, included with purchase, in the center of the room, plug it into the receiver, select the appropriate speaker system from the on-screen menu, and press a button to make it start. The technology between the microphone and the receiver does the rest.

Loaded With Features

Versatile and multifeatured, Harman Kardon's AVR247 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver incorporates a wide range of listening options to match your every need. In addition to Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES Matrix decoding for digital sources, a broad choice of analog surround modes are available for use with sources such as CD, VCR, TV broadcasts, and the AVR247's own FM/AM tuner. Along with Dolby Pro Logic IIx decoding technology, the AVR247 offers Harman International's exclusive Logic 7 process to create a wider, more enveloping sound environment with more defined fly-overs and pans, where the surround sound transitions from the speakers on one side to the speakers on the other side.

Future-Proof Connections

For the ultimate in flexibility, the AVR247 features two HDTV-compatible HDMI inputs, two component video and several S-Video inputs for connecting video devices. There are additional audio inputs, and the AVR247 is capable of handling all the latest A/V sources. Coax and optical digital audio inputs/outputs are also available for direct connection to digital recorders. This bounty of connections, plus direct audio inputs, makes the AVR247 virutally future-proof, with everything needed to accommodate tomorrow's new formats right on board. But because proven technologies are sometimes the best technologies, the AVR247's powerful amplifier uses the traditional Harman Kardon high-current (+/-35 amps), ultrawide bandwidth design.

XM and iPod Are Not Left Out

The AVR247 also comes equipped with the technology to handle two of today's most popular entertaiment alternatives--iPod and XM Satellite Radio. The rear-panel XM antenna jack allows you to plug in an XM antenna module. The XM antenna module is purchase separately, and should specify that it is for home use with an XM-Ready product. You will need to subscribe to the XM service, which is available separately, and activate the service for your antenna module. With The Bridge/DMP input, you can connect an optional Harman Kardon The Bridge for use with your iPod (also sold separately). Make sure the receiver is off (in Standby mode) when connecting The Bridge.

Included With Purchase

RCP 6 universal remote control, EzSet/EQ microphone, color Quick-Start Guide, color-coded cable labels, all necessary cables.
