5.1 Channel Home Theater System

The YHT380 is a full 5.1 channel surround sound home theater, complete with receiver, powered subwoofer, and 5 surround speakers. You get great Yamaha technology built right in, like SCENE, a Compressed Music Enhancer and front panel mini jack for portable audio players. The YHT380 is XM Ready (requires antenna and subscription) with XM HD Surround sound.

High Performance Package

Here's a home theater system that can fill your favorite room with powerful sound. The YHT280 delivers 600 watts of total power through 5.1 channels. You get a powerful digital home theater receiveralong with the speaker system to back it up. This package includes a center speaker with dual 3" woofers and a 0.5", two front speakers with 4" woofers and 0.5" tweeters, and two surround speakers that each have a 3" full range speaker. Last, but certainly not least, is the 100-watt subwoofer, which gives some muscle to low-end sounds.

SCENE - A New Level of Operating Ease

Four SCENE buttons make operating the YHT380's receiver easier than ever. They are initially set to default settings for DVD Viewing, Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button automatically launches a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, XM Listening, TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing. Browsing and selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by rotating the Input knob and watching the on-screen display. The settings can be selected for one-time use, or they can replace the original default settings. The SCENE names can also be changed.

XM Satellite Radio Ready

The YHT380 is XM Satellite radio ready, allowing you to hear over 150 digital channels of music, news, sports, talk and entertainment from America's number one satellite radio service. With the addition of the XM Connect and Play digital antenna accessory (sold separately), you can subscribe to XM Satellite radio and hear radio as it was meant to be. The receiver in this system also features XM HD Surround Sound. XM and Neural Audio Corporation developed this technology, which provides content with six discrete channels of digital full fidelity audio powered by Neural Audio technology. That means XM can broadcast in 5.1 surround sound twenty-four hours a day. Certain XM stations are already taking advantage of this exciting technology.

CINEMA DSP Digital

Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. Yamaha CINEMA DSP is much more advanced, actually creating richly realized independent sound fields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialogue, music and effects ideally located in these separate sound fields, you will hear sound with accurate placement, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and richness, and startingly realistic presence. It will seem as if the walls of your room have disappeared and you are in the middle of your own immense theater. The decoding circuitry performs Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS Digital Surround, DTS-ES (DTS-ES Matrix 6.1 and DTS-ES Discrete 6.1), DTS Neo:6 and DTS 96/24 decoding with extreme accuracy, as well as all digital sound field processing.

Compressed Music Enhancer

Yamaha employs sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms to enable playback that improves the performance of compressed music formats, including MP3 and WMA. With the Compressed Music Enhancer, highs and especially lows are richer and smoother, bringing music back to life to be as close to the original as possible. The YHT380's receiver has a front input to plug your digital audio player in, so you can easily take advantage of this technology.
