Ready to rock!
The Onkyo HTS5200 is your all-in-one entertainment package! It includes a powerful 910W (130 x 7) A/V receiver as well as seven speakers plus a powered subwoofer cranking out a maximum of 290W of bass. All the cables and accessories you need are included, and setup is a breeze! A new addition to Onkyo home theater, these four gaming modes create an experience with more realism and impact. You can select from Rock, Sports, Action, or Role Playing Game (RPG) modes to match your gaming content. The HT-S5200 also features a proprietary port, located on the rear side of the unit, to which you can connect Onkyo's Dock for the iPod. The dock sends both video and audio signals through a single cable. Earlier versions of Onkyo's Dock for the iPod can be connected via the Remote Interactive (RI) system. Make this beautiful set the center of your home theater today!
It's got the hookups
The included HT-R570receiver features a wide variety of input and output jacks, so no matter what you want to hook up, there's a good chance it will connect just fine. HDMI for your Blu-Ray player and TV? Not a problem. There are four HDMI v1.3 inputs and an output, all with 1080p capability. Component video more your style? Two inputs, one output. Maybe you want a slightly more retro AV experience. No worries. There are four composite inputs and one inputs. Still on the audio spectrum, there are two coaxial inputs and two optical inputs for a total of 4 digital audio inputs. There are, of course, hook-ups for the included AM and FM antenna. Further, there is a set of 7.1-channel analog audio inputs. There is also an RI remote control port, and designated connections for the included iPod dock and for SIRIUS satellite radio as well (activation, hardware, and subscription fees apply). The audio output includes 7-channel +/- terminals with a subwoofer pre-out and an additional set of speaker terminals for the front speakers. Finally, there is a full set of composite connections on the front of the receiver, as well as a headphone jack. Oh, this receiver has connections alright . . .
Head-turning
The aesthetic design of the speakers for the HTS5200 is such that they manage to call attention to themselves from the background. The black wood finish and cloth grill hint at subtle elegance. At the same time, the gloss black accents, curved shape, and even spiked feet of the subwoofer speak of unrivaled boldness. Put this together, and it's enough to turn just about anyone's head.
Home's Audyssey
The epic tale of the Audyssey opens in a grand and cacophonous chamber. Our hero, Audiphilias, descendant of mortals, embarked upon a fateful journey throughout the entirety of the room, on his quest for the "sweet spot," the place where, as legend had it, Audiphilias' folk music would sound as sweet as if it were the gods themselves playing it. For many minutes, Audiphilias wandered about the area. Though he searched far and wide, his unnaturally-discerning ears found no such place. Our hero fell to his knees and fervently began praying to Frequences, goddess of sound. While he was doing this, he felt his eyes suddenly being opened. He spotted the box for his new Onkyo HTS5200 set. He made his way to it. Right then, Frequences sent a breeze to open the box for Audiphilias. He picked up the owner's manual from inside the box, but it slipped and fell to the floor. It landed open to page 42. Audiphilias read about Audyssey 2EQ. He read how the included set-up microphone would "listen" to the sound in the room and use its measurements to adjust the sound output moment-by-moment to provide an ideal "sweet spot" for up to three people in nearly any room, at any volume. This was the answer! Audiphilias first paid homage to Frequences for her gracious gifts, then proceeded to set up his system using Audyssey. When it had finished, the lyre sounded sweeter than the finest honey in the land. Finally, he returned to his "sweet spot" at the center of the couch, where he battled suitors for his seat and ultimate power wielded by the holder of the remote control. And so ends the epic tale of Audiphilias.
Let's talk tech
Alright, down to business. The HTS5200 package features three different unique types of speakers, plus the subwoofer. The first speaker type is the center channel. This two-way, bass-reflex speaker uses two 3.25"-cone woofers and a 1" balanced-dome tweeter to bring you up to 130 Watts of pristine sound from 60Hz to 50KHz. The next group of speakers is the front set. To handle the left and right audio here, two powerful satellite speakers are included. Each is set up as a two-way bass-reflex speaker, and each wood cabinet is home to a 5" cone woofer matched to a 1" balanced-dome tweeter. The frequency response is from 35Hz to 50KHz, and like each satellite speaker in this package, their peak power is a mind-blowing 130 Watts. The last type of satellite speaker included is the surround and surround back speakers. There are two each of these, which are the same speaker design, but labeled differently to designate which is surround and which is surround back. These full-range, acoustic-suspension dynamos are comprised of a 3.25" cone and produce a frequency response of 80Hz to 20kHz. Finally, the bass-reflex subwoofer uses a massive 10" cone to pump out frequencies between 25 and 150Hz. And, at 290 Watts of power, you can feel the vibrations from this monster! The surround/surround back speakers are able to produce up to 81dB of audio pleasure, while the center and front raise that number to 85 eardrum-shattering decibels. The nominal impedance of the satellite speakers is only 8 ohms, while the input sensitivity/impedance is 20 k-ohms for the subwoofer. Finally, each speaker uses a wood cabinet for superior acoustics. Put this all together and you've got one rocking (literally) speaker setup!
Processing
The included receiver for the HTS5200 HTIB not only has amazing connectivity potential — it's equipped with cutting-edge processing power, including processing for Dolby PLIIx, DD, DD-EX and DTS ES, NEO6, 96/24 This ensures that all your processing needs will be met and likely exceeded.
A freebie? Sort of.
Another neat thing about this package is that the receiver includes connections for a remote control, SIRIUS radio, and even an iPod dock to play in full, glorious surround. Even more amazing, though, is the fact that this model includes an iPod dock.
iPod dock supports the following iPods:
4th Gen iPod, 4th Gen iPod (color display), iPod photo, iPod video, iPod Classic (80, 120, and 160GB), 1st - 4th Gen iPod Nano, 1st and 2nd Gen iPod Touch, iPhone and iPhone 3G
