Sure, in today's world of portable audio players that let you listen to your favorite tunes whenever and wherever you want, something like radio programming seems a little archaic. But hey, where else are you going to hear the latest craze, or catch up on breaking news while you're on the go? The Apple iPod nano now sports an FM radio tuner . . . but that's just the beginning. With Live Pause technology, you can actually pause the radio programming you're listening to with a single click. Then, tune back in with another click. Further, you can even rewind as much as 15 minutes to replay a song or news story, and then fast forward to catch up with the live broadcast. And then . . . iTunes Tagging capability lets you use the nano's Click Wheel to tag a song on the radio so that you can find it easily on iTunes.

Like most people, you keep your iPod nano in your pocket, your backpack, or your purse while you're listening. Now, let's say you've just downloaded a totally new mix of music with new artists and everything, and you hear a song you really like. For future reference, you could pull the nano out of your pocket and check the artist and song title, or you could just let VoiceOver technology tell you. VoiceOver technology speaks song titles and artist names right over the headphones without interrupting your music. And no importa quelle langue parli tu, VoiceOver supports 20 different languages.

Now, don't be too bedazzled by all of the new features: underneath the new glam, this revamped iPod nano is still the nano you love and adore. The Genius feature finds the songs in your music library that go great together and makes a Genius playlist for you. A built-in accelerometer allows you to switch between landscape and portrait view on the LCD. Give it a shake and it shuffles to a different song in your library. Turn it on its side to flip through your album art in Cover Flow. And tilt, move, and play accelerometer-inspired games (games available separately). And the 16GB capacity puts up to 4,000 songs, 16 hours of video, or 14,000 photos at your disposal. Additionally, a Voice Memo function lets you record spoken memos or reminders for yourself.

Browse and subscribe to podcasts, then sync them to your iPod nano. All you need to do is shop, download, and then load them on the nano via the included USB cable.

With Apples changes to the latest 6th generation iPod Nano, the clickwheel era appears to be drawing to a close. A shame, because the new touchscreen nanos dont hold a candle to this, the 5th-generation iPod Nano.
In a tiny package, the 5th generation 2009 nano maintains a distinctive edge with features LOST in the 2010 model
- Speakers,
- Microphone and audio recording,
- Video recording and playback,
- Clickwheel Games yes, they exist. yes, theyre fun,
- Certain accessories such as Calendar and Contacts syncing
- Ability to navigate by feel -- very handy in a car, walking, or when the nano is in a coat pocket
In closing, if youve been on the fence and LIKE the old Nano design better, get it now!
