This an excellent radio at terrific price. We also own a Bose Wave radio and honestly, this radio sounds 90 percent as good at 30 percent of the price of a Bose. Simply, the Sangean WR2 sounds great, looks great and works really well. The only small complaint I had a was about the instruction book which appear to have been translated in to English. I had a little trouble figuring out exactly what the book was saying, but I figured it out.
Technically, the FM receiving sensitivity is very good with just the built in antenna. Selectivity is excellent as the Sangean has no trouble staying locked on even weak stations. AM reception is also pretty good with the built in antenna. I can get New York stations at night, here in the Boston suburbs. The AM is somewhat broadband and picks up a lot of locally generated noise . I have a house full of CFL lamps, so I get a lot of that. However the audio quality of local AM stations is quite good.
Overall, the audio quality of the WR2 is exceptionally good for a radio of this size. The tone controls are helpful at contouring the sound for the location the radio is in. All in all I am very happy with this purchase, and my wife who loves listening to the radio but hates ugly electronics, is very happy with the white Sangean WR2 I ordered. The first thing she was “That radio looks very nice.”
