We were looking for a replacement for a boom box. Our criteria was that it had to sound great, work with Sirius radio and be esthetically pleasing our old boombox was NOT. The unit was easy to set up and switch between the auxilary input and the iPod docking station. The sound is great- you can really hear the highs and lows and it looks really nice while having a small footprint. Overall this is a great value in comparison to the Bose system we were looking at.

I was going to purchase the Bose sound dock, when a friend had just picked up the Kicker....everyone who listened to it was amazed at the sound..crisp, clear with great base and would crank right throuhh the upper volume levels...I googled IK501 and found that Vanns was selling the for half the price of the Bose ...I ordered it and am more than satisified with this great unit

I have been wanting a portable radio with an ipod dock for quite a while now to keep the music flowing in my job trailer. I am very particular when it comes to music, as my home system is audiophile quality.
Two things made me pull the trigger on buying the Kicker. One, all of the great reviews on the web.... when a product is good enough to draw rave reviews all across the WWW, it is usually pretty good, as it seems people have no issues with slamming a mediocre product to warn other shoppers. And Two, seeing that Kicker designed this unit with an actual three-way driver array, Woofer, Midrange, and tweeters where most manufacturers skate by with full-range garbage cone speakers.
I have to say for the money this thing costs, the sound is amazing. Nice high-end and midrange clarity and just enough oomph down low to fill in the bass, thanks to the square woofer on the back of the unit. Now this wont threaten anyones home stereo gear, or send a tube driven amplifier to the closet, but for its intended purpose and excellent value it is definitely a winner!
The only thing I wish Klipsch would have added is an option to throw in a couple D batteries and take this thing to the park, camping trip, etc.

I bought the Kicker IK501 based on price and the reviews that I read. I have to say that it delivered. I love it. The Kicker IK501 are portable but sound as good as many home stereo speakers. For its very small size it sounds really big. I mean that everyone that hears them will be very surprised that great sound is coming from speakers of that size. Kicker engineers did a fantastic job of quality, size, price and most of all sound beyond what you would expect. These speaks can handle full volume easily. It is loud but sounds fantastic. It comes with a remote so you can adjust the volume as you wish. What can I say...I am very happy I bought these speakers and wanted to share how I felt. Also keep in mind there is no option for batteries.

I was looking for a boom box for my old ipod, but there really arent a lot of choices out there that sound good. This Kicker isnt technically a boom box, as it needs a power cord, but its portable enough for my purposes. The bass sounds really awesome, and you can crank it really loud. It also comes with a little cable to connect any other player or phone through the headphone jack.

I will first say. I can only compare this with what I am replacing this with. I had the Logitech 715i. The Kicker501 is a little Bigger and a little heavy. The build quality is better and has a more Pronounced look to it then the Logitech. The Logitech has a small cheep feeling to it, but still nice sound for $99. The kicker was an Open Box Model from Vanns at $129. Best Price ever !!! MSRP $279 Now this was a no Brain er to replace the Logitech.
The Kicker was a Breeze to plug in and Play. Once the sound was turned up to a reasonable level, I noticed a huge difference in the full and balanced notes this player offered compared to the Logitech. The Kicker seemed to want to be turned louder and louder, and as I did the sound was as clear and perfect with each turn of the volume control. There was no comparison with the Logitech when it came to the amount of Volume the Kicker can produce. The sound quality was just amazing, From the Highs and the Lows. Especially the Lows. Fantastic... The Logitech is nice for what u get, sound wise and convenience because it also could be use with the rechargeable battery power which then the sound diminishes. However I knew this when I purchased the Kicker which for the quality of sound I was wanting was an easy trade off. Both players have passive radiators but the Kicker has what I call a nice lil Sub woofer that u actually feel. The only small issue I have with the kicker sometimes it doesnt want to go from the Aux input to the Ipod playing mode but then I was so excited with the sound I never read the directions. A wonderful Ipod Player, great full sound at at levels, A no Brain-er !!

I researched many different docks for my ipod and finally decided on the IK501... and I dont regret it. Im not sure what a safe max volume is, but it gets into the 30s pretty comfortably and it screams. On top of that, sound quality and clarity is great. In my opinion, if you want a Bose then youre just paying for the label.

This dock is so easy to use - and the sound is great. I retired my iPhone3 moving to TracPhone because the phone thing is now $1000 per year - Im older and dont spend my days texting, listening, webbing, etc and decided to use it for music storage and playback. Our 5 disk CD changed died and is no longer manufactured. Searched for days for a bookshelf docking system that everyone loved and that was under $300. Something was always lacking - sound quality, compatibality with iPhone, ease of use, etc. Then I read about the Kicker and deduced that you had to give to get. Give up the radio, the CD player, the separate speakers. Just get a really fine dockspeaker system that is manufactured by a respected manufacturer of speakers - not an assembled job with someones name stuck on it. Out of the box easy to use. Sound quality is fine - we are not audio specialists. Even my husband can work it. Fits comfortably and inobtrusively on the bookshelf in our living room. Thank you - my iPhone lives on - recycling at its best.

Great Product with unmatchable sounds. I have been searching for a radio of this quality that will play with an I phone and have an aux output. Not to mention you can play video through your I phone through the radios output to your tv. Plus it charges your phone at the same time. Service was tops and would recomend vanns and this radio to anyone.
