This World Band Radio (WBR) uses PLL Quartz Frequency Synthesized Digital Tuning to provide extremely accurate tuning with optimum stability and minimal station drift. You can enjoy accurate reception with stereo FM capability over a wide range of frequencies from LW and MW (AM) to SW and FM. A special Band Pass Filter automatically switches to the short wave band in accordance with the frequency being received and effectively reduces interference from bands outside of the one you're listening to. Synchronous Detection Circuitry reduces fading and annoying "beat" frequency interference from adjacent stations as well as distortion due to fading in AM reception. Single Side Band (SSB) Circuitry provides optimum multi-mode reception and reduced interference on narrow AM bands for better overall sound. Seeking a Signal
With the thousands of signals whizzing through the air, waiting for you to find them, you will appreciate having several convenient ways of tuning in signals to enjoy. You can key in stations directly by their frequency number using the 10-Key Direct Access Tuning or you can use the smooth rotary dial for precise manual tuning. You can even adjust the dial's tuning interval from 1kHz to 5kHz. Auto Scan Tuning brings in available stations one at a time and lets you listen for a few seconds before deciding to let scanning continue or hold on any station. Take advantage of the Station Memory Preset Tuning to store up to 162 stations for quick and easy access. Many stations can also be located using the very smart computerized station name tuning system. Just enter the station name and your radio will find the signal for you.
If you have Time for more...
The preset memory is divided up into several pages in order to make navigation and access simpler. You can enter up to 20 Tuning pages that can each contain up to five station names for a total of up to 100 station names. Each station name can hold up to 10 frequencies in memory up to a maximum of 162 frequencies. You also have Quick Pages that provide fast preset tuning of your most frequently listened-to stations and a Timer Page that can store up to five stations or frequencies for timer operations like turning your radio on and off at a specified time, unattended recording, or waking up to the radio. Not only is there a built-in clock and timer, this radio also offers you a Universal Time Coordinator that helps you set the local time and determine the time difference between your location and any other in the world. The World Time Scale provides a fast, visual map reference of current time anywhere around the globe.
Easy to Enjoy Everywhere
Thoughtful extras built into this world band radio make it easy to enjoy everywhere you go. The LCD display has adjustable contrast to provide a digital readout of frequency, station name, signal meter, clock and all other radio operating functions that is easy to see in almost any lighting. Key Protection Circuitry prevents accidental changes to your memory presets. Other extras include a built-in tilt stand, record output, an external antenna input for the included external antenna and a headphone jack (headphones also included). You may not use these included accessories all the time since the built-in 4" speaker provides great sound and the built-in antennas do a fine job of pulling in signals, but at some point you will more than likely appreciate being able to improve your reception and enjoy private listening.
