A "digital sound projector" . . . Can we get a little clarification?
The Yamaha YSP3050 is your all-in-one solution for your high-definition flat-panel home theater. Not only does this innovative component deliver true 5.1-channel surround sound for all your favorite movies and music from just one unit, but it also comes equipped with a wide variety of audio and video connections (including HDMI) as well as digital audio decoding technologies and video upscaling and upconversion to 1080p. With the YSP 3050 mounted cleanly on the wall beneath your flat panel HDTV, you achieve the modern, minimalist home-theater look while also enjoying high-performance, advanced surround sound and video from a single component.
23 drivers. 5.1-channels. 1 speaker.
"Hold on just a second!", you might be thinking. "Don't I need five independent speakers to get 5-channel surround sound in my home theater?" Once upon a time, the answer might have been yes . . . that is, before the YSP-3050. This single audio component combines twenty-one 1.63", 2W drivers and two 3.94, 20W woofers with advanced directivity and timing technologies to create a true, 5-channel surround sound experience. Each of the YSP3050's twenty-one 1.63" drivers is specially angled to bounce "beams" of sound off of your home theater's walls, allowing audio to reach your listening position from various directions. This audio reflecting technology is enhanced by advanced timing delay — because it takes longer for the rear-channel reflected sound to reach your listening area, different audio channels are specially timed so that you hear a complete, seamless surround sound soundscape. For improved low-frequency bass performance, the YSP-3050 sports a subwoofer output, ideal for connecting a powered subwoofer to your system.
Don't forget . . . it's a receiver, too!
At the same time that the Yamaha YPS 3050 delivers multiple audio channels, it also offers multiple audio and video connection options and advanced audio decoding and video upconversion and upscaling. Two HDMI inputs and one output and component- and composite-video connections combine with digital coaxial and optical audio inputs for optimal audio and video connectivity for your HD system. Dolby&trade Digital and dts&trade surround sound decoding formats and Yamaha's CIMEMA DSP offer advanced surround sound performance. Finally, video upscaling and upconversion to 1080p let you enjoy enhanced video on your HDTV from any video source.

HDMIncredible
Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Yamaha's YSP 3050 features two HDMI inputs and one output. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device. No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. (Please note that a physical adapter, sold separately, is needed to make the conversion from HDMI to DVI.)
Your HD lifeline
