Controller 100 Instant Access Anywhere |
| With the Sonos Controller and SonosNet, Sonos's secure, wireless mesh network, you can instantly access all the music that's stored on your home network, plus Internet (with subscriptions), subscriptions to online audio services, and even music from your favorite CD or MP3 player -- from anywhere in your home. Unlike other remote controls, the Sonos Controller features a 3.5-inch full-color LCD screen and scroll wheel so you can see album art, browse playslists, get detailed track information, and more. To get started, just pick a room, pick a song and hit play. You can use up to 32 Controllers for all your ZonePlayers -- like one for every room, floor or music lover in your house. |
Wireless, Multi-Room Digital Music |
| ZonePlayers can go anywhere and connect wirelessly when a wired Ethernet connection is not available. ZonePlayers and Controllers will establish their own secure wireless mesh network. NOTE: The first ZonePlayer you install must connect to your home network using a standard Ethernet cable. SonosNet technology is a secure AES encrypted, peer-to-peer wireless mesh network that streams music wirelessly to other ZonePlayers, avoiding sources of wireless interference while ensuring synchronous music playback. Multi-zone synchronous playback plays the same song simultaneously in up to 32 different zones (extra ZonePlayers required) without echoes or delays. Multi-stream playback plays different songs simultaneously in up to 32 different zones. |
Supports Multiple Music Formats |
| The ZP80 and ZP100 play music from your personal digital music collection, music services, Internet radio, or all of the above. They can access music stored on up to 16 PCs, Macs or NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices on your home network, as well as music services and Internet radio stations, and even CD or MP3 players connected to a ZonePlayer. Both support compressed MP3, WMA (including purchased Windows Media downloads), AAC (MPEG4), Ogg Vorbis, Audible (format 4), Apple Lossless, Flac (lossless) music files, as well as uncompressed WAV and AIFF files. You get native support for 44.1kHz sample rates, and additional support for 48kHz, 32kHz, 24kHz, 22kHz, 16kHz, 11kHz, and 8kHz sample rates. (Apple "Fairplay" and WMA Lossless formats are not currently supported.) |
Supports Multple Media Sources |
| Both the ZonePlayer 80 and 100 play Internet radio stations using streaming MP3 or WMA formats. Both come with over 300 pre-programmed radio stations and it's simple to add more via the Sonos Desktop Controller (sold separately). Music from an external audio source (such as a CD player, radio or MP3 player) connected to a ZonePlayer can be played by all other ZonePlayers in the system. You get support for music services like Rhapsody 3.0+ and downloads from: AOL® Music Now®, Audible.com®, eMusic®, Napster®, URGE, Wal-Mart, Yahoo! Music Unlimited, and Zune Marketplace. Playlists from Rhapsody, iTunes®, WinAmp, Windows® Media Player and MUSICMATCH® (.m3u, .pls, .wpl) can also be played. |
Wireless, Handheld Control |
| The Sonos Controller (CR100) lets you control what music is playing in every room in your house, from anywhere in your house. Control of your music is not tied to the room where you're listening. The system uses ZonePlayers and SonosNet, which is a secure AES encryped, peer-to-peer wireless mesh network that extends the range of the Controller to any room in your house, even outside. This avoids sources of wireless interference by communicating with the closest ZonePlayer, rather than through one distant control point. |
Full-Color Screen and Scroll Wheel |
| The Sonos Controller's 3.5-inch high-resolution color screen makes everything on the screen brighter and easier to see, including full-color album artwork, if available. The screen is optimized for indoor and outdoor use. If available, you can see full-screen and thumbnail views of album art, including detailed track information displayed in full color on the Controller. The scroll wheel selector makes it quick and easy to find your way through large music collections and make selections. Power scroll lets you scroll by letter to quickly find an artist, album or track. Intuitive button layout provides complete music management and control. Two buttons are dedicated to providing direct access to the Controller's main menus (Music and Zones). Its backlit buttons and screen make the Controller easy to operate in low-light conditions. Adjust the brightness of the LCD and buttons to suit your style and extend battery life. A light sensor turns backlighting on only when necessary to conserve battery power. Another cool feature is a movement sensor that automatically turns the Controller on when you pick it up. |
Ease-of-Use |
| When you connect your ZonePlayers, you get instant access to millions of songs on your Controller that you can enjoy all over your house. No ripping, or downloading to PC required. You can browse your digital music collection by Artist, Album, Genre, Track Name, Composer, or Playlist. Queue-based music playback makes it easy to build and edit lists (queues) of songs to play, and to save lists for future playback. The multiple music queues feature lets you use any Controller to build a separate queue of music to play in each zone or group of zones in your house. Flexible playback lets you control what zone or group of zones plays the music selected, and set shuffle/repeat playback as desired. Regardless of where your music is stored, Sonos presents a single view of your entire library (all artists, albums, composers, genres, etc.). |
