| An intelligent digital servo system automatically adjusts tracking, focus, and motor speed to compensate for disc defects, warpage, and dust, getting the most out of slightly damaged discs. Synchro start capability allows one-touch recording from the remote control. Synchro start automatically puts a Yamaha cassette deck in record mode before the CDC697 begins to play the CD selections. The easy-to-read display shows total disc time, elapsed time on the track, total remaining time, and remaining track time. Display illumination can be dimmed or brightened appropriate to room ambient light. |

| Yamaha's new Super-Silent Mechanism uses both a belt and gear drive to ensure smooth disc rotation and plastic rollers under the tray to allow it to move more smoothly. The disc being played is isolated from vibration on a separate tray, and held in place by a disc stabilizer. The entire disc changing system thus helps to maximize sound quality. The CDC697's laser pickup is isolated on a floating mechanism so its delicate operation cannont be affected by vibration. Because every single part affects sound quality, Yamaha uses nothing but the best. The special Low-Impedance Power Supply, for example, uses extra thick wires to ensure that power is absolutely stable even under low-impedance conditions. |
