Using a local area network (LAN) connection and Windows Media Connect technology, the RX-V Series RXV3900 Network enabled receiver allows you to play MP3, WMA, and WAV music from up to 15 PC's. The receiver can even be used as a client for Yamaha's MusicCAST home music server. The RXV3900 also provides the ability to listen to any of the thousands of stations available on Internet radio when connected to a broadband Internet connection. By using the included MP3 vTuner data service, looking for content on the Internet couldn't be easier, from your favorite Rock, Pop or R&B to Podcasts that cater to your music interests. With a USB terminal on the front panel you now have a convenient way to play music from USB flash drives and portable USB music players. Expanding your entertainment possibilities
Entertainment comes from many sources these days. You aren't limited to the video store, the radio, or music stored on tapes and CD's. You can access entertainment through the web, you can carry entertainment with you in your portable media player, and you can use a digital video recorder to decide when you want to watch broadcast programming. The Yamaha RXV3900 can handle any of the entertainment options you choose. With a connection to the Internet, the RXV3900 is ready for your Rhapsody online music service subscription. Or you could choose and HD radio service. Connect your iPod via Yamaha's optional YDS10 Universal Dock. Listen to your music and watch iPod images and movies on you monitor via the receiver. You can also operate your iPod via the receiver's remote unit with the On-Screen Display and charge your iPod. The YDS10 (sold separately) works with: iPod nano, iPod min and iPod (Click and Wheel). The RXV3900 is also XM and Sirius Satellite Radio ready, allowing you to hear hundreds of digital channels of music, news, sports, talk, and entertainment. Powerful connections
HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first and only digital interface to combine uncompressed high-definition video, multi-channel audio and intelligent format and command data in a single digital interface. HDMI switching, providing the most advanced method of delivering high quality video signals to a home theater system to enable the reproduction of DVD and satellite TV sources with HD quality. HDMI can also send the digital audio signals from sources such as DVD Audio, CD, Dolby Digital and DTS to provide simple component connection. The RXV3900 includes the latest HDMI 1.3a (4 in/1 out) specification supports with Deep Color (30/36 bit) transmission, 120Hz and 24Hz refresh rates and auto lip-sync compensation.
Automatic system calibration
The RXV3900 comes with its own audio calibration technology. Yamaha's YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as speaker size, the distance of the speakers, the sound pressure level, etc. until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room. A new Quick Start function displays the YPAO Auto Setup menu when the microphone jack is inserted, so Start can be immediately selected. Six YPAO settings can be memorized. And all you have to do is sit back and wait for it to finish.
Making the most of HD formats
The RXV3900 receiver lets you enjoy the best possible and newest surround sound from Blu-ray Disc players. it supports two lossy formats: Dolby Digital Plus and DTS HD High Resolution, as well as the lossless formats: Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Dolby TrueHD is Dolby's next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. Dolby TrueHD delivers tantalizing sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master, unlocking the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs. CINEMA DSP Digital
Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. Yamaha CINEMA DSP is much more advanced, actually creating richly realized independent sound fields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialogue, music and effects ideally located in these separate sound fields, you will hear sound with accurate placement, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and richness, and startlingly realistic presence. It will seem as if the walls of your room have disappeared and you are in the middle of your own immense theater. The decoding circuitry performs Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS Digital Surround, DTS-ES (DTS-ES matrix 6.1 and DTS-ES Discrete 6.1), DTS Neo:6 and DTS 96/24 decoding with extreme accuracy, as well as all digital sound field processing.
Superior custom zone control
You can enjoy audio in three rooms as well as video in a second room with an extensive array of Custom Zone Control features. These include Main/Zone 2/Zone 3 power control, front panel selection of XM/FM/AM tuning, volume and input source, Zone 2 video output and on-screen menu display, and Zone 2/3 tone and L/R balance control for ceiling or wall-mounted speakers. A separate Zone Remote Unit is provided and there is also an RS-232C interface for a touch-panel controller. For multi-room custom installations, power amp channels can be assigned in two ways: five for the Main Zone and two for Zone 2 (for 5.1-channel sound in the main room), and three for the Main one and two each for Zones 2 and 3 (for music in all three rooms without the need for extra amplifiers).
