The Yamaha HTR5835 is a full-featured home theater receiver ready for nearly all formats. Major features include 6-channel discrete amplification (120W x 5 at 6 ohms, including subwoofer channel), a variety of surround programs, SILENT CINEMA, and a preset remote control. It delivers high power to five surround channels and provides Dolby Digital, DT, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS 96/24 and Neo:6 decoding. The HTR5835's vitally important digital-to-analog converters use an extremely high performance 192kHz/24-bit operation type. They perform accurate sound field reproduction for high quality multichannel sources, and for two-channel stereo, provide outstanding separation and precise musical delineation.

XM Satellite Ready

You can enjoy XM Satellite Radio through the HTR5835 with a subscription and an XM Connect and Play digital antenna (both sold separately). XM Satellite Radio is the satellite radio service with millions of listeners across the U.S., broadcasting live daily. XM's channel lineup includes more than 130 digital channels of choice from coast to coast: 68 commercial-free music channels, from hip hop to opera, classical to country, bluegrass to blues; 33 channels of premier sports, talk, comedy, children's and entertainment programming; and more than 20 channels of traffic and weather information for major metropolitan areas nationwide.

Getting The Best Sound with DSP

The HTR5835 is equipped with a variety of precise digital decoders that allow you to enjoy multi-channel playback from almost any sound source (stereo or multi-channel). This unit is also equipped with a Yamaha digital sound field processing (DSP) chip containing several sound field programs which you can use to enhance your playback experience. Most of these sound field programs are precise digital recreations of actual acoustic environments found in famous concert halls, music venues, and movie theaters. The Yamaha Cinema DSP modes are compatible with all Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby Surround sources. There are 11 modes for movie/video sources and 8 music modes to get just the right effect that the source and your personal tastes call for.

Bringing It All Together

The HTR5835 includes a variety of connections to get the most out of your other audio/video components. Component video jacks are separated into luminance (Y) and color difference (Pb, Pr) to provide the best quality in picture reproduction. There are also composite video jacks for conventional video signals. The HDR5835 includes digital audio jacks for direct transmission of digital signals through either coaxial or fiber optic cables. You can use the digital jacks to input PCM, Dolby Digital and DTS bitstreams. When you connect components to both the Coaxial and Optical jacks, priority is given to the input signals from the Coaxial jacks. All digital jacks are cmopatible with 96 kHz sampling digital signals. You can also input analog signals from audio components by connecting through the HTR5835's analog audio jacks.

Automatically Preset FM Stations

You can use the automatic preset tuning feature to store FM stations. This function enables this unit to automatically tune into FM stations with strong signals, and to store up to 40 (8 stations in 5 groups, A1 through E8) of those stations in order. You can then recall any preset station easily by selecting the preset station number.
