These Features Sound Great
The Yamaha HTR5890 is a full-featured digital home theater receiver ready for all formats. It sports a couple of features that not only improve the sound quality of your system, they also make your life a little easier. Component Video Up Conversion takes S-Video and composite signals and converts them into a component signal. This not only ensures the highest quality video from any source, it means you only need one connection to your HDTV monitor. No more switching inputs according to your source, it can all go through the component video connection. The HTR5890 also has YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer) which uses an optimizer microphone at the listening position to pick up test tones from your speakers, which the system then analyzes to let you know the best audio parameters. The system will even automatically equalize the sound according to the readings it takes, for the ultimate in convenience.
Other Features
Some other major features on the Yamaha HTR5890 include 7-channel discrete amplification (140W x 7), Yamaha's Digital ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) design concept, 16 surround programs, 2 THX programs, SILENT CINEMA, and a Direct Access learning LCD remote control. It delivers high power to seven channels and features Yamaha's unique CINEMA DSP. The HTR5890's vitally important digital-to-analog converters use an extremely high performance 192kHz/24-bit operation type. They perform accurate sound field reproduction for high quality multichannel sources, and for two-channel stereo, provide outstanding separation and precise musical delineation. On top of all this the HTR5890 utilizes Pure Direct for high quality 2-channel and multi-channel surround reproduction, Wide-Range Audio Frequency Response for DVD-Audio/Super Audio CD Compatibility, and reproduces surround for 6.1 channels, 5.1 channels and 2.1 (virtual surround).
Delivering Superior Sound
The HTR5890 features Yamaha's exclusive Quad-Field Cinema DSP imaging for video sound and Digital Sound Field Processing for music that delivers the most realistic and dramatic sound possible. The HTR5890 features 16 different sound programs and 2 THX programs that provide multiple variations, so every movie and every piece of music will sound right in your home theater. Discrete power transistors rather than chips are used in the amplifier section to provide the cleanest sound possible. The amp delivers 140 watts each to seven channels.
Inputs and Outputs
With eight digital inputs (5 optical and 3 coaxial, fixed and assignable), the HTR5890 can accommodate digital sources such as DVD, CD, MC/CDR, and D-TV/CBL. Two optical digital outputs assure the finest possible signal leaving the receiver for your other components. The receiver incorporates component video inputs, providing outstanding video connections. You also get 7 S-Video inputs and 2 outputs. In addition to the wide range of inputs and outputs, the HTR5890 also includes a set of front panel A/V inputs for simple temporary connection.
DSP Me ASAP
The HTR5890 uses DSP technology to bring the most out of your music and movies. All-Channel Stereo DSP is great for casual listening parties. Yamaha's DSP puts music through all speakers in the system and maintains stereo imaging. Building on technology incorporated into its world-famous "silent" musical instruments, Yamaha has added HRTF and "Virtual" technology to create a realistic surround movie effect using standard, two-channel headphones.
What Is YPAO?
Yamaha's unique YPAO System (an integral feature of the Yamaha HTR-5890 Digital Home Theater Receiver)analyzes the acoustics of your room and adjusts various speaker parameters to provide the optimum sound at the listening position. It's like having a professional audio engineer tweak your system. This works in ANY room, with ANY speaker placement: you are the boss. You can be sure that YPAO is going to ensure you get the best audio wherever you are.
