The "5" in "5.1" refers to the five main audio channels — center channel for dialogue, right- and left-front and right- and left-rear channels for enveloping audio effects. The ".1" refers to the non-powered LFE or Low Frequency Effects channel which provides audio content to your subwoofer for deep, rumbling bass performance. Deivering 100W of power to each channel — for a grand total of 500W of output power — your RX-V363 is equipped to surround you with your favorite music or movie soudtrack. |

| True home-theater surround sound has its foundation in audio decoding formats. Do the names Dolby Digital® and dts® ring a bell? Your new RX-V363 receiver comes equipped with processing decoding formats from these two giants in the field, helping to complete your home surround-sound experience. Dolby Digital Pro Logic II is a multi-channel playback format developed using feedback logic-steering technology and offering improvements over conventional Pro Logic circuits. It can be used to decode not only sources recorded in Dolby Surround, but also regular stereo sources into five channels — front left, front right, center, surround left, and surround right — to achieve surround sound. Often simply referred to as "dts", dts Digital Surround is a multi-channel digital signal format. A 5.1-channel surround-sound format, Digital Surround is available in movie theaters as well as on DVD-Video movies for home theater viewing. The primary advantage of Digital Surround is that it offers highter data rates, leading many home theater enthusiasts to claim the sound quality for movie or music audio tracks to be closer to the original master recordings. |

SCENE — A new level of operating ease |

| Four SCENE buttons on the included remote control make operating the RX-V363 easier than ever. The four buttons are initially set to default settings for DVD Viewing, Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button automatically launches a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, XM Listening, TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing. Browsing and selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by rotating the Input knob and watching the on-screen display. The settings can be selected for one-time use, or they can replace the original default settings. The SCENE names can be changed, also. |
