More bandwidth equals more information transmitted through the cable, so the audio can reach its full potential through stereo, 5.1, Dolby Digital, 7.1, and DTS. For signal decoding, this receiver makes full use of the latest 32-bit floating point DSP. A 192 kHz/24-bit audio DAC is used for all channels. In addition, the AVR588 also utilizes Denon's latest technology for restoring compressed audio formats including MP3, WMA, and AAC, to reproduce a higher frequency range and deeper bass sound. The AVR588 provides a terminal for connecting an iPod on the back panel. With the purchase of either a Denon ASD-1R, an ASD-3N, or an ASD-3W, you can connect and play your iPod through your receiver. This model also features technology that enhances the sound of compressed audio, so your iPod has never sounded better. In addition to iPod compatability, the AVR588 can also play music via a network. With the purchase of either the ASD-3N or ASD-3W, you can use either ethernet or Wi-Fi to play music or view photos from your computer. In addition, this model features an input jack to connect to an XM satellite radio tuner antenna, which enables you to listen to many different audio broadcasts from around the globe. All you need is an optional XM tuner antenna, XM service activation, and a subscription (not included), and then you're ready to go.
