High Current, Low Impedance Drive
It's easy to understand why high current might be good, but what does impedance have to do with anything? Basically it's the resistance caused by the speakers and speaker wire. Connecting too many speakers, too much cable or the wrong kind of speakers, can create low impedance (a lower ohm rating than the receiver was designed for). This is difficult for typical amplifiers to handle and can cause them to prematurely heat up and distort. Onkyo's high current design means there will be a good, steady flow of clean power from the amp to the speakers, regardless of these challenges. Better sound no matter how loud it's cranked-up and no matter what speaker types/designs are connected.
RI Compatible
On properly equipped Onkyo receivers, one can connect other Onkyo RI compatible products and use the receiver's remote to operate the functions of these additional components (DVD, CD, Cassette, MD, CD-RW). The benefit of RI Compatibility means an entire Onkyo system that easily operates from one, easy-to-use remote control. The products can also interact. For instance, pressing the play button on the DVD player will switch the receiver to the DVD input.
A+B Speaker Drive
Sometimes referred to as parallel A/B speaker capable, both the main (A) and the secondary (B) front speaker pairs can be played simultaneously. This allows you to enjoy top-notch stereo sound in a separate room or for the use of two pairs of front speakers.
