For a receiver with "the works", look to Onkyo's TX-NR1009. This advanced AV component features just about everything you could think to want from your receiver. It can handle Full HD video (even 3D), or it can even upscale your picture to 4K with a Marvell Qdeo video chip. On the audio side of things, all the most advanced codecs are supported, including Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD. Audyssey MultEQ XT audio setup, ISFccc video calibration, and THX Select2 Plus certification combine to ensure your home theater experience is nothing short of incredible. Each of the nine channels offers an ear-shattering 135 W of steady power, while two subwoofer pre-outs allow you to double your bass. This gives you the freedom to enjoy a Dolby Pro Logic IIz or Audyssey DSX setup while still having rear surround speakers, or to enjoy a 7.1-channel system in the main zone with a powered second zone. Meanwhile a veritable plethora of inputs offer support for all of your AV devices, new and old. A network port or optional USB wireless adapter even allow you to tap into web sources like Napster, Slacker, Pandora, MediaFly, Last.FM, and Rhapsody as well as DLNA devices like many PCs. A front USB port offers Direct Digital Connection for your iPhone or iPod with an Advanced Music Enhancer to make your compressed files sound better. A variety of control ports give you the freedom to set up your system just the way you want to. Meanwhile, Zone 2 and Zone 3 pre-outs let you create the multi-room audio system you've always wanted. Whatever your AV pleasure, this receiver's happy to oblige.

This receiver is the absolute no doubt about it best I have ever had. I have owned the Pioneer VSX-520, the Yamaha RX-A2000, Kenwood, and the Onkyo TX-SR608. I have auditioned Denon, Pioneer Elites, Marantz, and others. The only other I would consider is Marantz but they are twice the price of what this was and only have half the features. The others do not sound as good as this one. Onkyo used to be bright sounding but these newer ones are neutral. My surrounds have more sound, the Audyssey places sound perfectly and life-like with movies, front to rear imaging awesome, Dolby Volume works excellently, THX sound modes are great another reason I won't buy another brand is the THX certification. Say what you will about it, I love it. Pioneer has it but they do not have Audyssey just their own which is not as good IMO. Plus Spotify it is awesome. And then Vanns is great to work with, they ship fast, they double box your order so it is not damaged. I am a very satisfied customer that recommends shopping at Vanns. Buy Onkyo you will not regret it. Read other reviews on it like from hometheater.com and others Google reviews of it

I have been out of the hobby for a long time and Ive always been an Onkyo fan. I was not disappointed by this receiver, the build quality is very good and it runs nice and cool. I have read that some of the older receiver models XXX8 series run very hot. As a precaution I put a USB fan on top of it for cooling but it is not needed. This receiver made my old speaker take on a whole new personality and they sound absolutely fantastic now, I was really surprised! Although it does not have Audssey MultEQ XT32, Audssey MultEQ XT that it does come with does a fantastic job on this receiver.
