Meeting The Challenges |
Without sophisticated engineering know-how and design, combining multichannel surround sound with video processing capabilities in A/V receivers presents some formidable challenges, particularly in the mid-level price range. Onkyo's TXSR575 comes up with a smart solution. Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) provides the platform for high-quality audio, while HDMI 1080p pass-thru and component video switching with upconversion capability gives you access to every video resolution available. Not simply content with giving you multi-dimensional home theatre, the TXSR575 comes equipped with Audyssey 2EQ room-correction technology to accurately align home theatre audio to the contours of your home. With this receiver, the emphasis is on A/V power and precision. |
Connecting With Quality |
To assure the highest quality from your entertainment sources, Onkyo provided the TXSR575 with a full range of quality connections, including 2 HDMI (V1.3 1080p pass-through) inputs and 1 output, plus 3 HD component video inputs and 1 output that all feature video switching. The amount of bandwidth needed to pass a component video signal depends on the video source you are using. To pass a progressive scan DVD signal, a receiver needs bandwidth of at least 12 MHz, and a progressive HDTV requires approximately 30 MHz of bandwidth for flawless transfer. The TXSR575's 50-MHz bandwidth is much greater than the 37 MHz needed for 720p and is more than enough for the clearest reproduction of the lastest video signals. There are also 3 S-Video inputs and 1 output, 2 optical and 2 coaxial digital audio inputs; and 6 audio inputs and 2 outputs. For added convenience, the TXSR575 has composite video and audio inputs located on the front panel. |
Sonic Balancing Acts |
Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) was developed to tackle the sonic demands of today's multichannel digital audio formats like DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD. WRAT virtually eliminates the adverse effects of counter-electromotive force by applying an uncommonly low amount of NFB (negative feedback). The final result is a flat response beyond 100 kHz, which means you get full bandwidth power across all channels. In other words, this receiver can faithfully reproduce any signal that you want to listen to and do it more accurately than you thought possible! |
No Hard Landings On The Noise Floor |
Onkyo's High Current Power Supply (H.C.P.S.) concept ensures that you'll always have power available to respond to the wide dynamics of surround sound. To complement this power capacity, it's essential to limit the effects of signal noise. When the sound is attenuated, the audio signal drops close to the noise floor at low volumes, tainting the signal. The noise that results is magnified when the signal is amplified. Onkyo's Optimum Gain Volume Circuitry adjusts the gain so that less than half the standard amount of attenuation is necessary. The signal never comes close to the noise floor, eliminating the possibility of the noise found in conventional volume-attenuation designs. |
Speakers Fine-Tuned For You |
Sound from your loudspeakers is affected by walls, furniture and other objects in your room, creating peaks and dips at different frequencies. To counter this, Audyssey (in collaboration with Onkyo) has developed the first in its combination of room correction technologies specifically designed for home theatre packages. Audyssey 2EQ/HTIB works by combining speaker calibration with room correction to deliver optimally tuned sound for affordable home theatre packages. First, the speakers are precalibrated to optimize the speaker system. Then 2EQ performs room correction to remove distortion, thereby creating the perfect match between the speakers and your room. The end result is an ideal loudspeaker response that ensures your movies and music sound exactly as they should. |
CinemaFILTER |
The tonal balance of a film soundtrack will be edgy and bright when played back over audio equipment in your home. This is because film soundtracks are designed to be played back in large theaters using heavy-duty equipment. Onkyo's CinemaFILTER restores the correct tonal balance for watching a movie soundtrack in your smaller home theater. |
XM Or SIRIUS? Now You Can Choose |
XM or SIRIUS? SIRIUS or XM? There was a time when the manufacturer of your A/V receiver determined which satellite radio service would be compatible. Not any more! Onkyo's TXSR575 is compatible with both XM and SIRIUS. XM delivers over 170 channels of music (including 69 commercial-free channels), news, sports, talk, comedy, and children's programming. There are even select channels broadcasting in XM-HD Surround 5.1-channel audio. To hear XM you'll need the optional XM Mini-Tuner and XM Mini-Tuner Home Dock, or the older XM Connect & Play tuner/antenna (none of which is included). SIRIUS brings you over 130 channels with all music channels commercial free. To hear SIRIUS you'll need the optional SiriusConnect Home tuner (not included). Check xmradio.com and sirius.com to see which service has your favorite sports coverage and personalities, and for the hardware to make it happen. You also have to subscribe to either or both services, subscription and activation fees apply (subscriptions not included). |
Extra! Extra! Play Your iPod Here |
Through Onkyo's proprietary RI (Remote Interactive) system, which lets you integrate different Onkyo components for control through one remote, you can simply connect the TXSR575 to most generations of iPods through the optional Onkyo DSA2 RI iPod Dock. What's more, the DSA2 is one of the more versatile interfaces between the iPod and audio-video systems available, offering you hands-free control, recharging capacity, and even iPhoto playback. |
