Theaters aren't the only places that boast surround sound. Now that the RX-V1900 receiver is in your entertainment room, music and movies come alive in a cinematic way. Now your home pulses with colorful sound thanks to Dolby TrueHD technology, one of the many features in your RXV1900 receiver. This is Dolby's next-generation lossless technology that has been developed for high-definition disc-based media. You get tantalizing sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master, unlocking the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs.

Powerful connections

HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first and only digital interface to combine uncompressed high-definition video, multi-channel audio, and intelligent format and command data in a single digital interface. HDMI switching, providing the most advanced method of delivering high quality video signals to a home theater system to enable the reproduction of DVD and satellite TV sources with HD quality. HDMI can also send the digital audio signals from sources such as DVD Audio, CD, Dolby Digital, and DTS to provide simple component connection. The RXV1900 includes the latest HDMI 1.3a (4 in/1 out). 120Hz / 24Hz refresh rates combined with auto lip-sync compensation keep music and movies crisp and clear.

Automatic system calibration

Yamaha's YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, etc. until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room and you don't have to do anything. A new Quick Start function displays the YPAO Auto Setup menu when the microphone jack is inserted, so Start can be immediately selected. Six YPAO settings can be memorized.

Expanding your entertainment possibilities . . .

Yamaha's optional YDS10 Universal Dock lets you connect your iPod to the RXV1900. Now that your plugged in, listen to your music library and watch iPod images and movies on your monitor via the receiver. Operate your iPod via the receiver's remote unit with the On-Screen Display. The YDS11 (sold separately) works with: iPod nano, iPod mini, and iPod (Click and Wheel). The RXV1900 is also XM Satellite Radio ready, allowing you to hear over 150 digital channels of music, news, sports, talk, and entertainment from America's number one satellite radio service. With the addition of the XM Connect and Play digital antenna accessory (sold separately), just subscribe to XM Satellite Radio and hear radio as it was meant to be.

Neural-THX Surround makes surround music, radio listening, and games more accessible and enjoyable. Neural-THX Surround's unique encoding process provides the rich envelopment and discrete image detail of surround sound in a format 100 percent compatible with stereo for use in CDs, radios, portable digital music players, and digital music downloads. With superior spectral resolution and channel separation, Neural-THX Surround draws the brain's attention to the sonic details in musical instruments, vocals and ambience that are typically masked by other playback systems. Digital ToP-ART construction

Digital ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) is the name Yamaha has given to a design philosophy whose goal is to maximize digital quality while minimizing analog circuitry. The culmination of Yamaha's long experience in digital engineering and design brings together several key elements to create the best-sounding A/V components available on the market. The RXV1900 is powered by Anchor Bay Technologies' ABT1010 scaler engine that can independently scale an image horizontally and vertically to further improve the picture quality on high resolution displays (to 1080i/720p with HDMI output).

SILENT CINEMA and CINEMA DSP

SILENT CINEMA makes it possible to hear large-scale surround sound through ordinary headphones. This is a variation of CINEMA DSP technology that Yamaha developed to let you listen in private to movies and other multi-channel sources for hours without listening fatigue. Virtual CINEMA DSP lets you enjoy the effects of CINEMA DSP surround sound wihout using surround speakers (handy for use in custom installations where some rooms don't have surround speakers). It can be used with the front/center/presence speakers or even with just the two front left and right speakers.
