As the name implies, this Pioneer Elite receiver is designed to provide uncompromising audio and video quality. Features like 1080p upscaling, powerful 7-channel output, and support for the latest AV standards see to that. For the dedicated enthusiast, it also offers plenty of options to customize and control your system, including PC setup (with a network connection). It isn't just the exceptional quality that makes the VSX-50 noteworthy, though; it's also incredibly convenient. Just because it's elite doesn't mean it won't play well with others; a healthy host of inputs provide connections for all your home theater components, new and old. But perhaps the most important connection it will make is with your iPod. The included docking cable lets you directly connect your iPod, iPhone or iPod the receiver and play back your favorite tunes with ease. It gets better though. An optional Wi-Fi adapter or ethernet connection offers even more awesome options. For starters, if your iDevice is connected to your home network, you can control the VSX-50 with the free iControlAV2 App (also available for select Android devices). This Elite receiver is also equipped with Apple's AirPlay so it can play media from your different iTunes libraries without a hitch. Of course, DLNA capabilities allow it to access media on non-Apple devices too. For even more fun, you can download Pioneer's free Air Jam App. Up to four Apple devices can paired using Bluetooth, then used to create a group playlist, among other things.
