Sure, the RX-A710 handles the best HD video and audio out there, but you'd expect it to. But you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that it's pretty much future-proof: supporting standards like 3D and ARC. You also may not be expecting some of the other advanced features, like the A.R.T. Wedge, a fifth foot designed to decrease resonance. The advanced networking options, including iPod control, are also sure to please.

It's got it all . . . and then some

This Yamaha Aventage receiver is designed to provide exception sound and video quality from all your connected devices. It offers a wide variety of inputs and outputs, 1080p upscaling, support for the Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master/High Resolution Audio, and seven powerful channels of high-quality output. It's even sporting support for modern standards like 3D, Audio Return Channel, and lip-sync, and an included microphone to set it up. But any more, those modern attributes are all but expected of a receiver. Fortunately, the RX-A710 has a few tricks up its sleeve to ensure that it's not like your other options. For one, it networks. With a LAN connection, it supports streaming from a number of top providers as well as from DLNA-compliant devices. To be fair though, an increasing number of systems offer that support. Many, including this one, also allow you to use your iPod or iPhone to control the receiver over your network. But most receivers only let you do things like turn up the volume, change the channel, or switch inputs. With this Yamaha, you get a full array of controls including things like changing the current sound mode to fit your listening. This Aventage model also features Yamaha's exclusive Anti-Resonance Technology Wedge. This fifth foot reduces the amount of unwanted vibrations that can negatively impact your signal. And as if all that wasn't enough, the RX-A710BL has a super-cool on-screen interface you can use that even shows album art. What more could you ask for?

Had a Yamaha years ago and had been very pleased. But when ready to purchase an update I purchased an Onkyo package deal. Little did I know that after only 2 years I would be having problems. Ran very hot & started to skip and couldnt use 3D and zone 2 would not work independantly. Decided to go back to the Yamaha. Couldnt be happier. The sound programs are better. The zone 2 works great and independent from zone 1, meaning that both zones operate 2 different listening modes at the same time. And the networking capabilities gives us great internet music. We have a 3D HDTV, 2 DVRs , a 3D blue ray and a CD player hooked to this receiver. The remote handles everything with ease. Using 7.1 with a great movie such as Top Gun, makes you feel like you are in the plane. The YPAO mic made it a breeze to calibrate the system. The only con is the volume control uses negative numbers which are a bit confusing when raising & lowering the volume. The video inputs with HDMI cables increased the high-definition clarity to 1080p from 1080i. So clean & clear. Overall, a great value and will never choose another brand.

This is the second Yamaha receiver I have owned. It is easy to set-up and with very user friendly controls. It is loaded with features. The sound is superb and if it is as reliable as my last Yamaha AV receiver it will last years.

Ive spent about a year going back and forth between various receivers before stopping at the RX-A710BL. I love that it was network ready, a feature which got my attention. Another thing that got my attention was the cost Vanns sold it for to couple with the free on-time shipment. I had my receiver within 5 days as they said, and I love it. One con about the receiver was that its not wireless internet ready so I had to run 50 ft of Cat 5 cable to its location, which was not hard, but wireless makes life easier. I also purchased the Yamaha bluetooth wireless dock to play my music from my IPhone and it works great. Also, I have an Apple TV hooked up and Airplay is one of the BEST technologies ever along with bluetooth. My friends still scrath their heads when I DJ wirelessly. The music is clear and crisp with plenty of bang behind it. Thank you Vanns, you are now my #1 online electronic store. Fishroy1
