It's All In The Family
This home theater component gets a "double thumbs up" stamp of approval. It's true to the well-crafted family of Onkyo's receivers with its high-quality sound reproduction and dynamic range. It offers an amazing surround sound experience that meets the high standards of THX Select Certification to deliver cinema-quality picture and sound right to the convenience of your living room. Filmmaker George Lucas originally created THX as a studio-reference monitoring tool, and THX Ltd. is now recognized as the leading provider of product and venue certification for the cinema and home entertainment industries. THX Surround EX extends the 5.1-channel format by adding a back surround channel matrixed from the left and right surround channels. THX Select2 (for small- to medium-sized rooms) is a certification standard that features THX listening modes, including THX Cinema, THX Music and THX Games modes, as well as Adaptive Speaker Array (ASA) technology for optimizing playback of multichannel movies, music and video games in the home.
Even More Entertainment Opportunities
XM Satellite Radio is a very popular satellite radio service. It offers more than 150 digital channels, including 68 commercial-free, diverse music channels; more than 40 channels of premier sports, talk, comedy, children's and entertainment programming; and 21 channels of traffic and weather information. With an onboard XM Connect-and-Play chip and data port, you can simply plug an XM Connect-and-Play home antenna into your A/V receiver and activate the service (charged through your service provider) to start receiving uninterrupted radio programming of your choice. The TXSR703 is also DS-A1 compatible, which means you can simply connect an iPod to your receiver through Onkyo's RI dock. Your iPod effectively becomes another Onkyo component from which you can relish a fuller sound that just can't be experienced through headphones. RI capability will also give you remote operability of your iPod for hands-off control over your digital music.
Join The Big League
Built-in decoding for all the latest and greatest sound formats surrounds you with up to 7.1 separate channels of digital sound that analog systems can't match. Suddenly, movies have the same excitement and impact as in the theater. Bass is stronger and closer to the director's original artistic intent. And now, with several DSP modes for creating soundfields (such as Jazz, Rock Concert, Theater, etc.) and decoding processes such as Dolby Digital EX, DTS ES, and DTS neo:6, this receiver has the technology to decode tracks that provide additional rear surround sound. This brings the home theater experience even closer to what the director was looking to achieve when the movie was originally mastered. Because not all your entertainment will have a Dolby Digital or DTS multi-channel soundtrack, Onkyo's TXSR703 also incorporates Pro Logic II decoding. Dolby Pro Logic II uses advanced sound processing technology to provide realistic virtual surround sound from movies with Dolby Pro Logic or stereo soundtracks. Pro Logic II even works on stereo music. Imagine how that will make your concert CDs sound. For ideal playback of such wide range digital formats as DVD-Audio and Super Audio CDs, Onkyo has incorporated innovative circuitry based upon decades of design experience. The powerful and highly accurate dual 32-bit DSP processing chip of this receiver, combined with 192 kHz/24-bit audio Digital-to-Analog Converters, faithfully recreates a wide range of surround sound from digital sources for pure sound perfection. From stereo to 7.1 channel surround, it all sounds great when you listen with Onkyo.
WRAT Rocks!
Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) was developed to tackle the sonic demands of today's multi-channel digital audio formats like DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD and DTS. WRAT virtually eliminates the negative effects of counter-electromotive force by applying an uncommonly low amount of negative feedback to stabilize the sound. The final result is a flat response beyond 100 kHz, which means you get full bandwidth power across all channels by extending the useful frequency range of amplifiers. In other words, this receiver can faithfully reproduce any signal that you want to listen to and do it more accurately than you thought possible!
Easy Alignment
Once you've got the system all up, how do you align such power with the unique dynamics of your home's listening environment? When setting up your system it's difficult to nail the setup the first time. Every room's acoustics are different because of size, shape, and even what's in the room. Well, Onkyo just made it easy for you to get the absolute best sound from your home theater. Onkyo's Auto Speaker Set-up with Microphone uses a high-sensitivity microphone to pick up test tones from your favorite listening spot, and then uses an acoustic analyzer to adjust the sound pressure level and time delay of each channel. What does this mean for you? It means that each channel is delivered synchronously, so you get the most accurate frequency response from your favorite listening spot in whichever room you choose.
Technologically Advanced, Yet Easy To Operate
In spite of its advanced technology, this receiver is surprisingly easy to operate so you can actually use all the features to enhance audio or video performances. To begin with, this receiver has a great remote control that almost harnesses the entire system at your fingertips. It lets you easily navigate through your TV on-screen display, or the front panel display of the receiver. Convenient, user-friendly menus displayed on your TV screen let you adjust your system's settings quickly and easily. The Learning remote eliminates having to have a collection of remotes for all your audio/video components, while the Macro feature is just as great. It can allow you to reduce playing a CD to the pressing of just one button-which is very handy, especially for those of you who have a child or a technology-challenged family member. This component also incorporates A-Form (Auto-FORMat), an Onkyo-exclusive advanced memory system that senses the signal format (DTS, Dolby Digital, or stereo, for example) and switches to the listening mode you pre-assigned for that source. You can just hit a button, sit back and enjoy your movies and music. The TXSR703 will also remember up to 40 AM/FM presets so you can tune in your favorite radio stations with speed and ease. And, if you also play SACDs or CDs through the receiver, another favorite feature not to be forgotten is the Pure Audio mode. It shuts off the video circuitry power supply and front panel display so there isn't as much noise in your audio playback.
Listen To These Features
The superbly designed TXSR703 Home Theater Receiver gives you a luxurious combination of Onkyo's traditional strengths of sound quality and construction quality with even more impressive sonic developments! Take the Optimum Gain Volume circuit, for example, which effectively eliminates noise contamination at low volume levels. Conventional receivers initially drop the signal close to the noise floor, which inevitably taints the signal with magnified noise, but not this one. Or, check out Onkyo's Non-Scaling Configuration, which gives you superb bass management while providing Digital Signal Processing with improved clarity, transparency, dynamics, depth and imaging.
Play Two Different Audio Sources In Two Different Rooms
With Powered Zone 2 you take command of your entertainment, even from a different room. You'll be able to play two different audio sources, in two different rooms, at the same time, from just one remote. For example, you could use the receiver in your living room to watch movies in surround sound while someone else listens to music through a set of speakers on your deck. Or, share the same audio experience because this receiver is also capable of sending the same signal to both sources. There is also a Zone 2 Pre-out that can be used with an external amplifier. So go ahead and take control of your home entertainment-and NOT just in your living room.
Accommodating Today And Tomorrow
Designed to easily be used with the system you have today, as well as the components you might have next year, this receiver has an impressive array of inputs and outputs. For easy front access for your portable devices, there's 1 audio digital coaxial input, 1 optical input, 1 video component, 1 composite, and 1 S-Video input. Then, on the back you get more! To help ensure the highest quality from your entertainment sources, Onkyo provided the TXSR703 with a full range of quality connections for your TV and DVD players, including 3 component video inputs and 1 output. There are also 5 S-Video inputs and 2 outputs, 5 optical and 2 coaxial digital audio inputs, 1 optical digital output, 3 audio and 5 A/V inputs, 1 composite video monitor output, 2 S-video outputs, 1 S-video monitor outputs, and 1 coaxial digital output. For HDTV and DVD video stability, the component video switching boasts a 50 MHz bandwidth to prevent the signal degradation that can occur with low-bandwidth components.
