| The Sony STRDA5300ES 7.1-channel A/V receiver expands on its predecessor's DNA. Regardless of source, this receiver integrates the latest audio and video technologies while making operations simple and easy. This receiver provides an "Audio for Video" solution which integrates the latest technologies to optimize sound as well as picture quality. The STRDA5300ES utilizes Faroudja DCDI Cinema Technology which up-scales non-HD sources (VHS, DVD, etc.) to 1080p. In addition to video upscaling, this chipset corrects image jaggedness and reduces block noise resulting in beautiful, smooth High Definition images. As for audio, the STRDA5300ES utilizes high grade components that provide effective heat dissipation, and large amounts of power while maintaining precise sound quality. Sony's Xross Media Bar inspired GUI allows a user to utilize an icon-driven menu system which provides easy access to the receiver's most cmoplicated functions. Want HD in a 2nd room of your home? The STRDA5300ES is the first Sony receiver that will distribute high definition content in a 2nd room (or zone) of a home. The STRDA5300ES 7.1 A/V receiver will accept 1080/60p and 24p HD video formats, x.v.Color (xvYCC) and Deep Color while providing ammple HDMI connections (6 inputs). Sony's Digital MEDIA Port makes this model iPod-Ready (accessory sold separately) and features BRAVIA Theatre Sync technology for "One-Touch Play." The STR-DA5300ES was engineered to be the ideal Blu-ray A/V receiver, fully compatible with the Sony family of Blu-ray Disc players. Superior video switching and audio performance ensure seamless compatibility with today's demanding HD sources. The STRDA5300ES features up to six High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) inputs which are capable of accepting resolutions up to 1080p, offering the full video quality that Blu-ray Disc format can deliver. The STRDA5300ES offers full compatibility with Blu-ray Disc format's linear PCM (uncompressed) output, producing up to eight channels of "high quality" audio reproduction. The STRDA5300ES also has the ability to support the latest audio formats from Dolby Labs (Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby TrueHD) and dts (dts HD). |

Stepping Up With HDMI |

| This receiver can detect and receive the best possible video and audio signals from all connected devices, making connection and performance as simple as plugging in a single wire. Sony's HDMI "Active Intelligence" produces both audio and video through one HDMI cable. Video sources connected via composite, S-video and component cables can not only be up-converted to HDMI video output but can also be up-scaled from its native signal to 1080p (i.e. 480i to 1080p) thus minimizing the number of connections needed from the receiver to the television display. This capability is due to the Faroudja DCDi Cinema Chipset, which is what converts all video signals (less than 1080p) to 1080p via HDMI. This chipset corrects image jaggedness, reduces block noise and reproduces true-to-original colors. The end result is a beautiful and smooth high definition image. The STRDA5300ES can also perform down-conversion of component and S-video sources to lower resolution outputs, thus customizing video connectivity to home theater requirements from a single source. Also, the receiver can take HD sources from component video and down convert the signal for use with composite or S-video outputs. This is ideal for distributing video through multiple rooms with fewer wires. |

| The STRDA5300ES offers a Cross Media Bar Inspired graphic user interface, which is an on-screen menu system that simplifies the most complex operations of an A/V receiver for home theater applications. This advanced menu system incorporates icons, and easy to follow "tree" system and a blending technique so you know exactly where they are amongst the various settings while still watching your main video source (up to 1008i). Enhancements made to this new menu include access to Digital MEDIA Port accessories, the ability to assign HDMI inputs and independent A/V Sync control for each input. It's simple.
