The recommended room size for THX Ultra2 Plus certified AV receivers is 3,000 cubic feet or larger, with a minimum 12-foot viewing distance from the video display to the primary seating positions. CINEMA DSP HD3 — Lots of letters, lots of audio performance.

As Yamaha's latest evolution of CINEMA DSP, CINEMA DSP HD3 uses four Quad CINEMA DSP engines and permits lossless decoding of 192kHz signals, while providing 3D processing that gives the sound field an extra vertical dimension. In its full 11-channel configuration setting, it adds two presence and two rear presence speakers, offering the enjoyment of a completely new sound stage. Complementing CINEMA DSP HD3 are SILIENT CINEMA and Virtual CINEMA DSP. SILENT CINEMA makes it possible to hear large-scale surround sound through ordinary headphones! This is a variation of CINEMA DSP technology that Yamaha developed to let you listen in private to movies and other multi-channel sources for hours without listening fatigue. Virtual CINEMA DSP lets you enjoy the effects of CINEMA DSP surround sound without using surround speakers (handy for use in custom installations where some rooms don't have surround speakers). Your RX-Z11 tailors itself to your room, your system

Using YPAO automatic system calibration technology, your new RX-Z11 automatically optimizes your audio system's performance to the acoustics of your listening area. With a small microphone and sophisticated equalization technology, YPAO first checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room. Six YPAO settings can be held in memory and recalled via two system memory buttons on the remote control.
