Two HDMI (v1.3a) inputs and one output mean you can use today's newest technology in your home theater and enjoy the highest definition audio and visual content possible. HDMI v1.3a has more bandwidth, which allows more information to be passed, so it supports 36-bit color depth and xvYCC color space, meaning an even broader range of colors can be seen on your screen, which equals more realism. "All the colors of the rainbow" may not be enough any more. Even if you don't have the most current components, you can still get high definition entertainment thanks to analog-to-HDMI and non-HDMI-to-HDMI upconversion. This means that standard definition content can be improved to look like high definition. A 12-bit/216 MHz video DAC is used in the video circuitry for component video, S-video, and composite video signals. This DAC enhances the reproducibility of delicate-level video signals, allowing high-definition video to be played back with greater fidelity to the original images. In addition, NSV (Noise-Shaped Video) technology improves your video signal-to-noise ratio for greater signal linearity. Faroudja processing technology uses mathematical algorithms to fill in blank spots and eliminate jagged edges, ensuring the sharpest picture possible. | The Denon AVR988 makes use of two of the latest 32-bit floating point DSPs for its decoding. The latest high-accuracy 24-bit/192-kHz DAC has been employed for the audio DAC, while a high-performance analog-to-digital converter of 24-bit/192 kHz quality has been used to significantly boost S/N and dynamic range. For the visual spectrum, Denon included a 12-bit/216 MHz video DAC with NSV. The AVR988 also utilizes AL24 Processing Plus, the latest technology for high sound quality giving you the most bang for your buck available in an audio system. The AVR988 provides a terminal for connecting an iPod on the back panel. With the purchase of either a Denon ASD-1R, an ASD-3N, or an ASD-3W, you can connect and play your iPod through your receiver. With the ASD-3W, you can even wirelessly stream music from a compatible iPod. This model also features technology that enhances the sound of compressed audio, so your iPod has never sounded better. In addition to iPod compatability, the AVR988 allows you to view photos or listen to music from a network. With the purchase of either the ASD-3N or ASD-3W, you are able to enjoy pics and tunes from your computer through your home system, via either ethernet or Wi-Fi.
