High current, low impedance drive |
It's easy to understand why high current might be a good thing for an amplifier, but what does impedance have to do with anything? Basically it's the resistance caused by the speakers and speaker wire. Connecting too many speakers, too much cable, or the wrong kind of speakers can create low impedance (a lower ohm rating than the receiver was designed for). This is difficult for typical amplifiers to handle and can cause them to heat up and distort. Onkyo's TX8255 high current design means there will be a good, steady flow of clean power from the amplifier to the speakers, regardless of these challenges. You get better sound no matter how loud you crank it up, and no matter what speaker types/designs are connected. |
