2-channel stereo receiver |
Flat screen displays, high definition video, and multichannel audio are all well and good; but sometimes all you need or want is a dedicated stereo audio system. Onkyo's streamlined TX8555 two-channel receiver lets you focus solely on your music or get high quality sound from movies, broadcasts, and gaming. This affordable receiver comes with proprietary Onkyo amplifier technology proven in their higher-end models; and it's housed in a sturdy, vibration-resistant chassis. Whether it's channeling your iPod, SIRIUS or XM Satellite Radio, CDs, or other traditional audio sources, the TX8555 translates your music with effortless power and finesse. It even offers Zone 2 capability, so you can simultaneously play a separate audio source in a second room. |

Selecting this stereo receiver won't be a vote for change |
In the fast-paced world of home entertainment technology, change is a given. Technologies change so quickly that what was new today is already old tomorrow. Some people don't need or want change, but rather adhere to tradition. Those people focus on what's really important for quality audio: first-rate sound with high power output. Forget about lossless multichannel audio formats that take more processing power than on the space shuttle to decode. If your receiver lacks a fundamentally superior amplifier design from the power supply through to the output stage, then everything else is meaningless. Onkyo built the TX8555 with this in mind. Incorporating proprietary Wide Range Amplifier Design (WRAT) with an isolated power transformer and discrete output stage, the TX8555 is centered on maintaining the purity of music, radio, and video sources. Also, with the options of either or both XM and SIRIUS Satellite Radio; or enhanced iPod compatibility, this traditional receiver gives you the versatility for a sweeping range of entertainment. |
Living up to the reputation |
With its continued reputation for excellence in sound reproduction, Onkyo has created a powerful and versatile stereo receiver for the more traditional home theater enthusiast. The TX8555 stereo receiver offers superb functionality and dual-room capability that's hard to match. Onkyo exclusives like WRAT amplifier design, discrete output stage circuitry, a massive power transformer, and a heavy-duty extruded heat sink offer the cleanest signal on the market with tighter bass, superb transient response, and enhanced presence at any volume level. Most of the receiver's audio processing is handled automatically, with little intervention on your part. However, it is so advanced, its discrete output reproduces music with unmatched sonic clarity and dynamic power. This receiver is capable of delivering breathtaking stereo sound; and because of its high efficiency design, the TX8555 produces exceptional sound quality, and clarity in every audible detail. |
Everything you need, nothing you don't |
The TX8555 gives you everything you need and nothing you don't: high-current low-impedance drive capability, 100W x 2 power output, a vibration-resistant chassis, and a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response. This broader frequency range with lower harmonic noise entering the signal path is perfectly suited for high resolution DVD-Audio and SACD formats. You get even more essentials like SIRIUS and XM Satellite Radio capability, six audio inputs, three audio outputs, two video inputs/outputs, Zone 2 output, individual treble/bass/balance rotary controls, Remote Interactive (RI) port, banana plug speaker posts, an AM/FM tuner with 40 presets, and A/B speaker switching. A/B speaker selection with dedicated speaker terminals offers the capability to send audio to a second room. And, the built-in IR port enables multiroom distribution with optional control systems. |
